Expressions of Care: Weekly Well-being Breaks Continue

This Spring semester, the Wellness Program launched Weekly Well-being Breaks as part of the university's Expressions of Care initiative. Weekly Well-being Breaks will continue this summer!

New! Succeeding Through Change

Our lives are busy, change is ever-present, and while we usually have the best of intentions, our other commitments and the fast pace of daily life can get in the way of our change efforts. Thankfully, a variety of best practices exist and have been used to foster individual well-being and organizational success. This new nine-week series will offer a variety of perspectives to help maximize your capabilities. Six speakers will present strategies on the power of mindset, intention, optimism, and leading change. View the list of session topics.

Tuesdays, June 10 - August 5, from 12-1 pm via Zoom

This series is eligible for a Wellness Program Incentive in the General Wellness category.

Cultivate Kindness with Good Nurtured

After participating in the 2-week preview of Good Nurtured – a program from the organization that we partner with for wellness challenges like Walktober – this past December, we have decided to offer the full 6-week program this summer as part of the Expressions of Care initiative!

Good Nurtured raises awareness of the mental, emotional, and physical health benefits of kindness, civility, and graciousness by encouraging participants to select and engage in various "Good Things" activities that are the most important to them. Each Good Thing that participants record online within the platform/app adds a new element to a whimsical, animated scene.

Good Nurtured will take place from Monday, July 7 through Sunday, August 17 and is open to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff. Registration is open now and will remain open through July 14.

When we lead with courtesy and consideration, goodness can spread beyond colleagues and friends to our organization and community. Join us to help spread positivity at the university.

Wellness Incentive Program Update

This fall, there will be changes to the Wellness Activities that faculty and staff complete to become eligible to receive the $25 Monthly Wellness Incentive in 2026. Due to budget constraints, we will no longer offer biometric screenings through Quest Diagnostics. If you have been a regular participant in the biometric screening process at the university, this is a good time to call your Primary Care Provider to schedule an appointment for a screening (as well as an annual exam if you haven’t had one yet this year). We will share details on the new activities that will replace screenings in the July Wellness newsletter.

All current participants in the Omada Health program, which is available to qualified individuals found to be at risk of metabolic syndrome following a Quest biometric screening, will retain access to the program for the full year following their start date. Please email Elizabeth Click at erc10@case.edu with any questions about these changes with Quest as well as any questions related to the Omada Health program.

Wellness Walk & Talks Return This Summer

With the weather finally starting to break for summer, let's get outside and walk together! Mobile Mammogram Screening Clinic on Campus

Routine health screenings are an essential part of your health. About one in every eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer. If it’s found early, there are more treatments and a better chance of survival. That’s why Medical Mutual, the Cleveland Clinic, and Case Western Reserve University are partnering to make it easy for university faculty, staff, and spouses to receive a mammogram screening. This is covered under your Medical Mutual benefit plan so there is no cost to you.

A Cleveland Clinic Mobile Mammogram Screening Clinic will be hosted on Tuesday, June 17, from 9 am to 4 pm at Crawford Hall (meet in the first floor lobby). To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-590-2583.

Workstation Workout

For those who find it challenging to add strength training to a busy schedule, Workstation Workout is the solution! During this 8-week program, instructor Mary Ann Dobbins will provide exercises you can do almost anywhere. Using your body weight and a resistance band (provided by the Wellness Program), you'll learn workouts you can perform at your desk.

Fridays, June 13 - August 15 (no session on June 20 or July 4), from 12:15-1 pm via Zoom

Two Opportunities to Sign up for a Chair Massage in June

A chair massage can help relax and loosen sore muscles, as well as reduce stress, tension, and anxiety. Experience these benefits by treating yourself to a chair massage on one of the following dates this month. For both dates, appointments will be hosted in Crawford Hall, Room 11A on the ground floor.

Thursday, June 12, from 2-5 pm

Wednesday, June 25, from 9 am - 12 pm

The chair massages, provided by One to One Fitness, last for 13 minutes and cost $15. Registration and pre-payment are required. You can select your date, see available times, reserve your slot, and pay via the links to the right. Enjoy!

Mindful Movement

Mindful movement is a gentle, accessible approach to yoga that encourages people to tune into what they are feeling as they move and make choices based on their present moment embodied experience. During this 12-week series, instructor Julie Schlemmer will present options for movement, and there is no priority placed on stretching more or holding positions for a longer period of time.

Mondays, June 9 - August 25, from 12-12:50 pm via Zoom

Release, Relax, and Reach

Join Heidi Weiker for Release, Relax, and Reach (RRR) – an engaging, impacting, and interactive 8-week series. Not just another canned and repetitive stress management program, RRR is insightful and readily applicable in your real-world.

Each week we’ll explore fun and quick, yet powerful and proven, methods that you can use right in the moment. We'll discover a release out of unrelenting stress and strain. We'll relax into a deeper balance of energy and calm. And then, we'll reach into inner peace and joy, to reach up and out into the world. Participants will learn relevant science and contemporary theories, engage and enjoy in these practices in real-time, and feel inspired to reinvigorate their well-being.
