From the 2017 Zebulon Show: First Blossom by Brandon Taylor

Dear Friends of A Novel Experience,
There's nothing more relaxing than reading a great novel while the rain drums a soft,  steady beat on the roof above...but, enough already! After two weeks of daily showers and a near miss by Albert, we're thinking we may have to really use the tabletop wading pool that holds our annual display of great summer reads! But, after 24 hours of no rain and the appearance of the sun, we're going ahead and stocking the pool! Come see--the best thing about reading used books is that beach sand, surf, and injudicious handling is no big deal--one can just enjoy.

Father's Day is Sunday, June 17th. May we suggest picking out a book for your dad? It is a truly personal gift that speaks volumes about him--and, it sure beats a dozen golf balls...(Note: The latter was a gift I gave my dad for many years!... C.).

We hope everyone got a chance to see the premiere of the Great American Read, the  eight-part television and on-line series that celebrates America's 100 best-loved novels. If you haven't  seen the list yet, stop by and take a look--and pick up your GAR pin! We've pulled  copies of many titles on the list in case you want to indulge a first-ever, I always-meant-to-read-that, or a lovely return to a much-loved book of your past. And, if we don't have it, we can order it for you at our regular discount of 20% for requested new books.

Closer to Zebulon, g et out those cameras! In July, the second annual Zebulon Show will feature photography of our county and those nearby. You can enter four of your favorite images online--see below for more information. The deadline is June 17th
Thanks all for continuing to support our local stores and economy--it really makes a difference. And, stay tuned for things to get hoppin' around town this summer. Come by. Tell us what you're reading and consider joining one of our book groups--it's a great way to schedule a pause in your busy--and getting busier--day. Enjoy. And, stop by and let us know what you are reading!

After giving her own review of last month's title, Brown Bag Book Club member Georgia also translates her dog's enthusiastic opinion...

June at the GALLERY: Steven Harrison brings a world of vast and varied experience to his visual art. From his career as a medical illustrator and Chairman of the Department of Medical Illustration at the Medical College of Georgia, to a PhD in Art from UGA in 2008, Steve continues to travel down an amazing diversity of creative paths. His work that graces our walls through July really underlines that! Fish, especially trout of all varieties, landscapes, race cars, tractors, and, of course, incredible illustrations of the human body.
