Watershed Stories Workshop

Saturday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m.

Join Suncoast Storytellers for a free three-hour watershed storytelling workshop. Participants listen to sound pieces created from water data, reflect on personal experiences, and craft short spoken stories.

Herpetology Summer Camp

June 15 - 18, 2026 (four-day camp)

Time: 9 am - 4 pm each day

Celebrate Stormwater Stewardship Month with a watershed walk to explore, gather data, spot wildlife, and learn pollution prevention.

Do you have an interest in nature and history? And do you enjoy sharing that knowledge with others? Then you should join our volunteer team!



The Center has opportunities for volunteer docents who welcome visitors and provide information on the recreational and educational opportunities available at Weedon Island. There are also openings for seasonal guides who provide interpretive trail tours. Training is provided, but volunteers must be 18+.

Friends of Weedon Island is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the educational, conservation, and preservation efforts at Weedon Island Preserve in St. Petersburg, FL. Since their founding in 1992, they have provided essential financial and volunteer support for a variety of programs and projects aimed at safeguarding the Preserve’s unique habitat, ecology, and cultural history.

The mission of the Weedon Island Preserve Cultural & Natural History Center is to empower citizens to make informed decisions about natural and cultural resources. Center programs interpret the natural, cultural and archaeological history of the Preserve to demonstrate how the environment and people support and shape each other.
