Your visit includes exclusive access to the Center's classroom space—perfect for lessons, hands-on activities, and viewing the welcome video Gulf Islanders: The Story of Weedon Island. Groups may also explore the “Connecting People and Place” exhibit gallery.

The Center has opportunities for volunteer docents who welcome visitors and provide information on the recreational and educational opportunities available at Weedon Island. There are also openings for seasonal guides who provide interpretive trail tours. Training is provided, but volunteers must be 18+.
Friends of Weedon Island is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the educational, conservation, and preservation efforts at Weedon Island Preserve in St. Petersburg, FL. Since their founding in 1992, they have provided essential financial and volunteer support for a variety of programs and projects aimed at safeguarding the Preserve’s unique habitat, ecology, and cultural history.
