2020 Annual Report to the Community: A Defining Decade Now Available
King of Prussia District’s 2020 Annual Report to the Community , A Defining Decade , outlines KOP’s development in 2019 and, in honor of our 10th anniversary, highlights the resurgence of KOP’s commercial, residential, retail and hospitality sectors over the past ten (10) years.

The report celebrates a decade of collaboration and incredible investments made by Upper Merion Township, our 441 commercial, industrial and multi-family property owners, and other partners and allied organizations. Since 2010, this public/private partnership has sparked $3B in economic development activity, and perhaps even more important, cultivated a more diverse and connected business community than ever before.

We See You, KOP:
Honoring King of Prussia's Essential Heros
In May, King of Prussia District and Upper Merion Township honored three inspiring members of our community for the We See You, KOP campaign, an initiative to honor essential workers who are working on the front lines during the pandemic. The following incredible individuals were nominated by members of our community for going above and beyond the call of duty and showing compassion and courage during these past few months.

Corporal Blaine Leis of the Upper Merion Police Department played a valuable role in the police department response and worked tirelessly to keep our first responders and community safe.

Robert Smith , a Clinical Nursing Supervisor at CHOP and President of the Swedeland Fire Company, works the night shift at CHOP before waking up to take calls for the Fire Company. He is dedicated to taking care of children as well and volunteers to help keep residents and those who work in Upper Merion safe.

Tammie Chimilio is the Director of Nursing for HCR ManorCare. She has sacrificed time with her family during the pandemic so she can be on the front lines, managing the units 24/7 and making sure residents are cared for and making staff feel appreciated.

Another huge THANK YOU to our honorees for their service to our community and showing us that not all heroes wear capes during these difficult and unprecedented times.

First Avenue Linear Park Update
Significant changes are taking place on First Avenue in KOP with the demolition of the old narrow sidewalk and construction of the new ADA compliant multimodal trail on the north side of the street. Some sections from 900 to 1000 First Ave. already have the asphalt base course installed. The project contractor, Marino Corporation, completed retaining walls at the Maschellmac office complex and began excavating the next set of retaining walls at 933 and 935 First Ave.
Construction on the Linear Park Phase I continues while the project contractor follows a strict COVID-19 Safety Plan that includes:
  • Health screenings for all construction staff on site
  • Required facemasks and gloves for all employees on the job
  •  Handwashing stations and frequent equipment sanitizing
  • Social distancing, unless the safety of the public or workers require deviation

Coming Soon: Outdoor Dining in KOP
One of the best parts of summer, besides all the vitamin D from the summer sun, outdoor activities and fresh air, has got to be dining al fresco! There's nothing like a great meal and a cold drink on a warm summer evening.
Luckily, dining outdoors may be closer than we think. All around Upper Merion Township (UMT), restaurants and UMT officials, with assistance from King of Prussia District, are working to create a safe plan for expanding outdoor dining once Montgomery County is moved into the “yellow” phase. Wondering what outdoor dining will look like in this new phase? King of Prussia District has put together a list of what you can expect when dining out(side).
