June is PTSD & Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month!

Hello Everyone!

I’m excited to share the June edition of our GCSS CEO’s Corner newsletter!

This month, we are proud to recognize Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health care for men and boys in our communities. June is also officially recognized as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month, which serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by those living with PTSD and the importance of offering support and understanding.

We’re also taking a look back at events across the state that took place in May to honor Mental Health Awareness Month, as well as the meaningful stories and celebrations from Foster Care Awareness Month. During this time, we honored the incredible impact of foster families and team members who support children in need of safe, loving, and stable homes.

Our Employee Spotlight this month shines on Ranisa Broussard, a dedicated and compassionate team member in our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) program in Baton Rouge. Ranisa has gone above and beyond to support some of the most vulnerable children in Louisiana. Her tireless commitment to high-quality care has made a lasting difference in the lives of many young people, and we are proud to have her as part of the GCSS family.

We are excited to announce the upcoming opening of our new Therapeutic Foster Care Group Home – Brighter Futures – coming soon to Pineville, Louisiana. This home will offer a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children and youth with serious emotional, behavioral, or medical needs. Through intensive therapeutic services, Brighter Futures will help each child heal from trauma, build resilience, and thrive. This important addition underscores our ongoing commitment to expanding access to high-quality care and specialized support across the state.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the mission of Gulf Coast Social Services!

Breaking the Stigma, Building Support

At Gulf Coast Social Services (GCSS), we believe that mental health is integral to overall health, and that includes recognizing the unique challenges faced by men in seeking support, expressing emotions, and prioritizing their well-being.

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to start conversations, raise awareness, and break down the barriers that prevent men from accessing the care and support they need. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, PTSD, or stress from work or family responsibilities, mental wellness is something every man deserves.

At GCSS, our programs are designed with compassion and dignity at their core, and we are committed to creating safe and supportive environments for men of all ages—from young adults in transition to fathers, veterans, and seniors. Through behavioral health services, case management, therapeutic programs, and respite care, we work to ensure that our male clients receive the help they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
