Chamber Updates June 3, 2021
Chamber Members-

April showers bring May flowers, but June means the baseball season is in full swing, the All-Star break is just around the corner, and Memorial Day always meant (for me) that the public pools were now open for the summer. June this year means that the Hometown Hero event (June 17th) is in two weeks, the BB Riverboat event (Aug 6th) is just two months away, and Labor Day will be here before we know it.

For those businesses that have relied so much on in person gatherings and dine-in, the latest mandates from the CDC and the State of Ohio Dept of Health are welcome signs that the COVID-19 pandemic is less of a burden than it has been. For those with vaccinations behind them, it also means that the mask mandate opens up our world to a sense of normalcy which has not been in place for over a year. We should be celebrating as we "reopen" in so many ways.

The event schedule for the chamber, list below along with the news of the day will be making a marked change in the next month or two. A suggestion has been brought that communication come in the form of: The Long & Short of It. Going forward I will have available a newsletter "lite" along with our full newsletter for those who like to get their information all in one place. I'm not exactly sure of how it will all come together, but much the way our last year has gone...we will figure it out.

As always, thank you so much for your support for our various events, and the Chamber of Commerce in general. I spoke recently with one of my counterparts whose chamber of commerce (Monmouth, IL) has been in place since 1912 and coming up on their 110th anniversary. Like us, they have over 200 members, however they have a plethora of mulit-generational businesses that have supported their efforts for many years!

Wishing all of you a terrific summer. I hope to see you soon.

Dave

Small Group Initiative
As you may seen and felt, our small group initiative is in full swing too. Each key person within our membership and some that are new or kicking the tires (so to speak) have been contacted by a small group ambassador with the intention of building on and expanding relationships within the community. Using our Support-Connect-Celebrate foundational Core Focus, each team will have a different personality, meeting cadence, and participation experience based on the leadership of that group and its participants. As shared above, participating in chamber events as a small group is greatly encouraged. If you have been contacted but have not responded, this is a great time to do so. Please contact the chamber office if you have any questions about how to plug in. Again, a special thanks to the 20+ leaders who have stepped up as volunteers to make this an integral part of our chamber community.
ONGOING JUNE-AUGUST
On August 11 from 9am-12pm, the NWLSD is once again hosting their Back-to-School FAIR at Northgate Mall.
This is an event where they get to connect with families and offer them some of the most needed services in preparation for school including school supplies, free haircuts, dental screenings, physicals, and a plethora of other services. In the years past they have had over 700 families participate in the event.
The Chamber is collecting crayons 🙂
You can drop off donations at Art on Fire of Cincinnati, LLC, 9336 Colerain Avenue Suite B.
Please consider donating to this much needed event. You can bring crayons to any upcoming event, Women's Luncheon, Third Thursday, EL meetings, etc. We would love to present them with an abundance of crayons for the upcoming school year.

Team Up to Green Up
An initiative is underway in partnership with Colerain Township and many other organizations to help our community environmentally. This green movement is being spearheaded by several area companies & chamber members, governmental bodies as well as organizations like Green Umbrella and Hamilton County Waste & Recycling.

“Team Up to Green Up – Colerain, is a local green initiative connecting local businesses, government, residents, individuals and community groups to enhance the local quality of life and create a more sustainable Colerain. Through shared resources, events, and ideas, team members promote a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Colerain where we can all proudly live, work and play. We are looking for more volunteers, ambassadors and stakeholders to join!

If you would like more information or would like to get involved, please contact Dave Moravec, Geoff Milz [email protected] or Dean Ferrier from Rumpke at [email protected] .
