Advocacy in Action

CASA Susan observed a child wanting (but struggling) to read to a younger sibling. During her next visit, CASA Susan brought a simple book so the sibling could read to their younger sibling, helping to further strengthen the bond between these two siblings.

CASA Erin learned that a youth had lost their glasses when they moved from their last placement. CASA Erin knew the youth could not read without glasses, so she immediately requested that CASA replace the glasses. Then, CASA Erin was able to deliver new glasses to the youth at their new placement.

Poverty Presentation May 1 - Executive Director Gina Clement and CASA Steve gave a presentation about poverty and its effects on the children served by CASA volunteers to United Way Give 5 volunteers at Aging Best. CASA Steve talked about working directly with families in poverty.

Trivia Night May 11 - we held our 2nd annual trivia night fundraiser at Last Flight Brewing Company to raise awareness and funds. A good time was had by all!

Zonta Yellow Rose Luncheon & Expo May 21 - we enjoyed our time during the Zonta Yellow Rose Luncheon Expo getting to connect with so many community members about our mission. We then had the privilege of attending the inspiring luncheon.

Check presentation at Hollon Chiropractic May 28 - we were the recipient of their 1st quarter Give Back Movement donation (a portion of every new patient fee)

MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of Capital City CASA to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children and youth in the 19th Judicial Circuit of Missouri, based on the belief that all children are entitled to a safe and permanent home. The mission will be accomplished through screened, trained, and qualified community court appointed volunteers.

VISION STATEMENT

The Capital City CASA Program envisions that all Cole County children have safe, permanent homes free of abuse and neglect. To achieve that vision, Capital City CASA Program will work to ensure that the CASA program is sustained by highly trained CASA volunteers.

VALUE STATEMENT

To provide a consistent experience in a safe environment for children, family members and advocates, providing hope while collaborating with our partners and the broader community.
