Our 6th Save of Christmas

When we got the call to rescue Soka, a 19-year-old black cat, she had been staying at Judy’s home for a month. Judy’s granddaughter had found her in a nearby neighborhood, assumed she was a stray, and brought her home to her grandmother.

They realized they couldn’t keep her and called us since they knew we have a soft spot for senior cats. We learned that Soka was microchipped and that her owners lived close to where she had been found. We thought she might have been lost when Judy’s granddaughter found her. Unfortunately, when we contacted the owners, they had no interest in reclaiming her. So much for the heartwarming reunion!

But Soka’s story has a happy ending after all! A former foster with June’s decided their home was too quiet without a foster kitty and approached JSCR about being a Furever Foster again. They came to Hannah’s House, met all the cats, and fell in love with Soka’s affectionate personality instantly. Soka, in turn, quickly made herself at home with her new family, cuddling on the couch and watching movies, and napping by the fireplace, keeping one eye on the birds outside.

We love Soka’s happy ending and are thankful for the support from our generous donors that allows us to help senior cats live out their golden years with comfort and love.

Each December, we love to share the memorable and touching stories of cats we saved during the year. This Holiday Season, Soka is one of our 12 Saves of Christmas—one of the lives your kindness has changed forever.

Your generosity is the reason Soka got a happy ending… and the reason we can say yes to the next cat who needs us. As we continue to care for cats like Soka, we humbly ask for your support. Your contribution, whether through our wishlist or as a tax-deductible gift, allows us to provide life-saving care and love to the senior cats in our care.
