Celebrating Pastor Alyssa

We are so proud of and excited for Pastor Alyssa as she will soon be Ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in the Oregon Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church. Her ordination will be part of the annual conference ceremony on Friday, June 24th.

Two events are planned to celebrate this excited next step in her ministry.

The first will be an Ordination Watching Party on Friday, June 24th at Morningside UMC. Ordination begins at 11:00 AM and will be live-streamed into the sanctuary.
The second will be a time of celebration during worship on Sunday, June 26th at Morningside beginning at 10:30 AM. We will follow worship with a special reception in the Peace Fountain Courtyard.

A basket will be available for cards during both events. (If you aren't able to attend in person, you are welcome to send in a card to the church at any time: MUMC, PO Box 3076, Salem, OR 97302.)

Both events are open to everyone within Open Door Churches.

Vacation Bible School!

VBS will be held at Morningside UMC each Wednesday in August from 6-8 p.m. for the children in all of the Open Door United Methodist Churches as well as the public -- for ages pre-K through 5th grade. Contact Pastor Alyssa Baker if you would like to help in some way -- they will need volunteers and donations of funds and supplies!

NAACP Juneteenth Event

Sunday, 19th 3-7pm.

Stop by, support, and learn! The NAACP’s Juneteenth event will be hosted in their new rental spot- the MICAH building! Welcome our new neighbors and join in the activities held on the lawn outside Suite 150.

“From 3-7PM there will be a speaker, black owned businesses, Seed of Faith Praise Team, BBQ, games and more!”

Spiritual Formation Classes

Chair Praise & Dance Spiritual Formation Class

Hi Friends, beginning next week, the zoom chair praise dance is replaced with a chair praise dance video that you can play any time to praise God. This is a video recorded with Hanna Lee (Claremont Seminary Student who had lived as my daughter this past school year). She had graciously danced me in this video. For those who rather dance standing, dance with Hanna.

Our chair praise video is intended for people who expresses joy with body language. Please feel free to make your own creative movement to praise God with this song.

I'll post a new song every two weeks. Enjoy!

Zoom Devotional - Wednesdays @ 7 a.m.

FOR EARLY BIRDS

Pastor Kalina invites you to join her at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday mornings on Zoom for a 15-30 minute Devotion & Prayer time with friends and Pastor Kalina. This will be a weekly gathering.

One of the fundamental purposes of churches existence work and mission is to draw people to have a relationship with each other and God through Jesus Christ. This is an opportunity for those early birds who would like to begin your day sharing devotion and prayer with friends before heading down to breakfast. You can join us with your favorite morning beverage.
