Hello Richmond CPCU Members,

It’s the season of giving back, and our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee as a part of the Richmond CPCU Society are excited to announce an upcoming virtual volunteer opportunity with Junior Achievement of Central Virginia!

We are looking for 4 more volunteers to share their career stories! From getting hired and your approach to teamwork, to creating your personal brand and more! The content complied will be shared with local high school students in the Central Virginia area. Our stories, which will be pre-recorded and edited by JA of Central VA, will help to equip young students with the tools and skills required to achieve success in high-growth career industries, Risk Management, and Insurance! This opportunity is a great way for us as a Chapter to not only give back locally but to also promote insurance careers to prospective students. There are already 3 classes in Richmond that are looking to start this program in February 2021, so our content is needed for use very soon!

I want to volunteer! What do you need from me?

  • Please review the JA Career Success Video Volunteer Guide and select which segment you would like to record. We are only asking for you to volunteer for one segment, which will be around 3-5 minutes in length.

  • Once you have selected which segment you would like please email our DEI committee member, Desiré Marshall, dmarshall@AMICA.com, and include which video segment you would like to record. Desiré will confirm with you that you are approved for your preferred segment, and then you can get started recording (zoom, Webex, etc.) Don’t be shy or worry about bloopers, there will be editing! Lots of tips are provided in the JA Career Success Video Volunteer Guide. Be sure to review those before recording!

  • Recorded videos will need to be emailed to Desiré by January 27th so they can be compiled into one video in time for classes to start using them in February!

  • If you need any help with the recording process please reach out! You do not need to be a CPCU to volunteer for this project! Feel free to pass this along to anyone in your office who might be interested!
