Junior Volunteer

Summer Program

"Volunteer at Peconic Bay Medical Center"

Monday - Friday

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (50 hour program)

Tuesday, July 9th - Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

The Summer Junior Volunteer Program at Peconic Bay Medical Center provides an opportunity for young adults ages 15-17 (working papers required up to age 16) to volunteer within a hospital environment and at the same time give back to their community.   It is here in this modern medical center that we join our hands and hearts with doctors, nurses and members of the hospital staff in helping others.

Each Jr. will begin the program by participating in a week-long educational experience. The remainder of the hours will be spent in actual volunteering within an assigned department. This schedule will provide the minimal 50 hours annually required for jr. volunteering. A physical and blood work will be required before starting this program. Enrollment will be limited. Acceptance into the program will be based on the application and an essay requirement. There will be limited seating and applicants will be chosen on their essay and secondly on availability of seats.   The essay should be one page and handwritten. The subject will be "Why do I want to volunteer."

Please call Lynne LaGrua, Director of Volunteer Services 631 548-6021 to obtain an application, information and to set up an interview appointment.    Student and parent or guardian must attend interview and pre-volunteer medical screenings.

Deadline for interview: June 3th
