Happy New Year, my dear ones!

The first week of the New Year is "in the books". How did it go for you? Mine has been busy reinventing the website (and me...notice the new logo above and a new headshot!). I'm not doing it alone- I've enlisted (read: paid) my middle child, Meghan, a PR Powerhouse, Website Wonder and Social Media Maven to help me, which has freed me up to do the things I really love like studying Ayurveda, prepping for my upcoming Restorative Yoga Teacher Training and crafting ideas for NEW workshops. It's been a fun week, however I "forgot" to think about any New Year's Intentions (called Sankalpa in Sanskrit) by making a mental list in my head of all the ways 2024 was going to be different.

This week it seems that every news outlet has a list for you...Top 10 Ways to Do This in 2024, 5 Tips for That in the New Year, etc. I've got just ONE suggestion, 10 words, for you on how to improve your health in 2024. It's easy, simple and cost effective.

Drink Warmed Water,

Not Cold Water &

Never with Ice.

That's it. And here is why it is healthier for you.

You are approximately a 98.6 degree entity, warmed water is closer to your normal state. If you can comfortably dip and hold your pinky in a cup of heated water/tea etc. (about 100-112 degrees), it is the perfect temp for you and safe to drink. Cold and Iced drinks will lower the temp in your gut, douse your digestive fire/enzymes, cause blood vessels to vasoconstrict, and make it harder for you to absorb the water (and nutrients from your foods). Some of you may already have experienced this when drinking cold/iced beverages or eating cold foods and your stomach literally hurts as it constricts. That's just not good for you!

Winter time is the perfect time to start putting warmed water/teas and foods in your body to maximize the ability of the body to get the right amount of fluid and nutrients from it to prevent the dryness and dehydration that goes along with the season (p.s. this is one of the main reasons your skin dries out in the winter and you may experience more constipation).

In Ayurveda, warmed or "cooked" water is called Usnodaka and is pacana or digesting of toxins/ama and won't put out your digestive fire. All really important concepts when trying to live a healthier life. You can learn more about water absorption and ways to prevent body/skin/colon dryness this Winter by joining me on Friday, Jan. 19 for Deep Winter Skin Renewal at Seva Yoga in Yardley. More info is below with sign up details!

If you would like my FREE Usnodaka/Cooked Water Recipe just reply here and I'll email you the pdf. Have specific questions about your water intake, nutrition or healthier living in 2024, how about an Ayurvedic consult in 2024?

May you be well, may you be healthy, may you have peace and may you live in joy in 2024...Happy New Year!

Love to all, Ginger
