The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is delighted to announce, A Broadway Valentine, a special Valentine's Day concert event with Broadway actress and singer Ana Maria Andricain. Enjoy Valentine-themed songs by this accomplished performer and hear behind-the-scenes stories from Ana's twenty plus years appearing in musicals in the Big Apple.

A Broadway Valentine will take place Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Baton Rouge Little Theater. Tickets are $35/person and $60/couple. The ticket price includes meeting the artist at a champagne reception following the concert. This event is in celebration of the Arts Council's 40th anniversary year. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the programs and services of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

Ana Maria Andricain has appeared on Broadway in numerous productions including Les Miserables, as Fantine; Beauty & the Beast, with over 400 performances as Belle; and By Jeeves as Stiffy Byng. She has also graced the stage at the Lincoln Center in Happiness, as Juanita in the original cast; South Pacific, as Connie; The Glorious Ones (original cast); Marie Christine (original cast); Bernstein-American Songbook National Tour: Evita, 20th Anniversary Tour, as Eva Peron; and Annie Get Your Gun.

Ana's World Premieres include: Hunchback of Notre Dame, as Esmeralda; Hidden Sky, for which she was nominated for Best Actress for a Barrymore Award; and Take Me America, also a Best Actress nominee. She has appeared on television in Evangeline (PBS) and Law & Order: SVU and in the film Che directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Ana says, "The Valentine's Concert is a celebration of love.  I'll perform songs from shows that I've done - some of my favorite love songs, some Gershwin, some Irving Berlin and some contemporary writers I worked with at Lincoln Center. It's a mix of songs people know and songs they'll love once they hear them. I'll also be telling some behind-the-scenes stories from backstage at Broadway."

Ana adds, "Derek Gordon (the late CEO of the Arts Council) was a dear friend and changed my life in countless ways.  He was largely responsible for bringing me back home to Baton Rouge and was very instrumental in guiding me to build my jewelry business.  He brought my beloved New York City to my Baton Rouge home and as I got to know my home town once again, all the things that I enjoyed and enriched my life were somehow connected to the Arts Council and Derek.  A Broadway Valentine is my way to honor Derek and to support the Arts Council for all it has done and continues to do for our community."

Arts Council Acting Director, Kathy Scherer, says, "We are honored that Ana is offering this generous gift of her great talent to benefit the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. Our community has produced so many talented individuals who have received widespread fame and then returned to Baton Rouge to give something back to their hometown."

Ana was most recently the female stand by for the National Tour of Lincoln Center's South Pacific flying in & out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she resides with her husband, Philip Mann.  Ana is a handcrafted jewelry artist who sells her work downtown at the Baton Rouge Arts Market the first Saturday of the month & is owner of the online jewelry boutique www.JewelofHavana.com.
