Attendance Changes for the 2024 - 2025 School Year

Modifications to Bishop Kelly's Tardy Policy were made this spring. Please make note of this updated policy:

Parents/Students will be notified of the following tardies:

  • 5-7 Tardies: Parent/Student will be notified and the student will serve a 2 hour detention for each tardy 5 and over.
  • 8-9 Tardies: Parent/Student will be notified and the student will serve a 3 hour detention for each tardy 8 and over. This could consist of a Saturday School Detention.
  • 10th Tardy: Parent/Student will meet with the Vice-Principal of Student Affairs and/or designee; the student will be put on a behavior contract.

Parents are encouraged to frequently check the attendance of their student(s) through Infinite Campus.

2024 - 2025 Calendar

The 2024-2025 School Year Calendar is online. You can find it on the Calendars page on BK.org, along with a daily Master Calendar that shows all events and activities happening at BK.

Please note that the days leading up to and following major vacation holidays should be treated like any other school day. Student absences often spike just before or just after holiday breaks. These absences can potentially affect your child’s final grade.

Fist Semester final exams end on December 20th at 10:00 AM. PLEASE do us, and your child, a favor and do not schedule vacation departure prior to that date and time.

2024 - 2025 Bell Schedule

Bishop Kelly's Bell Schedules can be found on BK.org under the "Life at BK" dropdown.

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday start time is 8:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday are late starts and will begin at 9:00 a.m.
  • On a typical week, BK has Block periods on Monday / Tuesday (Block 1) and Thursday / Friday (Block 2). Mid-week on Wednesday is a Straight 7 (Mini-block) where all classes will meet.
  • Bishop Kelly has one Lunch every day. All students eat at this time.
  • On Tuesday/Thursday BK has 40 minutes of community building House Time.

It is important to read BK Alive and JIT emails during the school year to stay up to date on schedule changes, especially if we have a short week!

Staying Organized on a Block Schedule

To help your child stay organized with binders, etc. we suggest the following:

  • Have two larger 3 inch binders and label them periods 1-3 and 5-6 respectively.
  • Have a third, skinnier binder for period 4 only. Periods 1-3 and 5-6 are always on the same day, but period 4 interchanges with the different block periods in a given week.

BK Dress Code Changes for 2024-2025

Bishop Kelly’s dress code is intended to encourage modesty, cleanliness, neatness, and pride in one’s appearance and school community. It is our belief that students should respect each other for who they are, not for what they wear.

CHANGES TO THE BK DRESS CODE FOR FALL 2024

Joggers of any kind join the list of pants that are NOT acceptable during the school day for all BK students.

Pants that are acceptable in the BK Dress Code are:

  • Dress slacks (including capri style for girls)
  • Corduroys
  • Khaki/Dockers-style pants
  • Colored denim (no blue denim)
  • Shorts that come to mid thigh (no blue denim or athletic style shorts)
  • Leggings that are covered by appropriate length shorts, skirts, or dresses are allowed. Leggings as pants are not.

ORDERING MASS DRESS

All School Mass and other special occasions are designated “Mass Dress Days”. These are school days where a more formal and uniform appearance is expected of students out of respect for the special purpose of the day.

Click here for a full description of Bishop Kelly Mass Dress.

The required Mass Dress Oxford shirt with the BK Crest embroidered on the front can be purchased from Educational Outfitters. Please order now to ensure that your student's Mass Dress arrives in time for our first All School Mass on September 19th. This is a busy time of year for Educational Outfitters so order early!

**Please make sure your student has black or khaki dress slacks for Mass Dress days. Denim pants are not acceptable Mass Dress.**

Familiar Faces at BK

Bishop Kelly does not have any new faculty members joining our staff for the 2024-2025 school year. However, we do have two returning faculty!

  • Raquelle Mouw is returning to teach English. She taught 5th grade at St. Paul's in Nampa last year.

  • Rob Pannell is returning to teach freshman theology and a new senior theology elective on the parables.
