Named "Queen of House Music" by Billboard Magazine, "Screamin'" Rachael was the first House artist to be signed by a major label, launched the Hip House sound together with Afrika Bambaataa and is today president of the legendary TRAX record label.
This August sees the release of a retrospective LP: QUEEN OF HOUSE curated by Jorge Cruz, Trax Records' Creative Director, with rare and unreleased tracks from Screamin' Rachael's early Space Place Punk days to Hip House - introducing "Fun With Bad Boys" with Afrika Bambaataa.
It tells the story of Rachael's life and more importantly documents a major piece of dance history - in Rachael's own funky, seductive, and sharp way.
The album shows the diversity of House and Dance music in its early beginnings. Working with several key players including Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Afrika Bambaataa and New York Club Kids, Screamin' Rachael also introduced some of the most influential DJs to House music. She is an integral part of TRAX label's day-to-day business and continues to operate as a protector of the TRAX & House music legacy.
Screamin' Rachael currently spends her time between Chicago & New Orleans. She is partners with Perfecto of the French Quarter's largest gallery, Exagere, where she performs regularly. Rachael also performs at such venues such as the Martin Lawrence Gallery and Rain (Amsterdam) for ADE. It was at ADE where a meeting between Rachael and Todd Terry led to the new single "U Used To Hold Me", a special mix of which appears as a bonus track on the album.
