Just Who Do We Think We Are?
Jenny Cockell Says...
|
|
"Mary died twenty-one years before I was born but memories of her life and of that time were always a part of me, shaping and affecting the person I grew to become. This is an account of the search both for the children Mary left behind and for self-understanding; through reaching out to the past I had to unearth and face my own feelings of inadequacy and fear and find the reasons behind these emotions. I knew that I had to try to find the children 'of yesterday' or my life would always be shadowed by memories of the past, of grief, anger and loss."
From the Introduction to
Across Time and Death
, by Jenny Cockell, p. vi.

Here is another fascinating past life story! It is amazing, really!
"This is the story of Jenny Cockell, a woman from Northamptonshire who believed that she had lived before - as an Irishwoman named Mary who died 21 years before Jenny was born, leaving several very young children without a mother or a stable, happy home. The book describes the trauma and worry of a past-life memory, and Jenny's decision to search for 'her' lost children. It follows her progress through her dreams and memories, the revelations of hypnotism, her searches through maps, through local groups in Ireland, and her trip to the village where Mary had lived. Finally, it details her painstaking search for the children and the extraordinary 'reunions' that took place."
From the description of
Yesterday's Children
on Amazon.com
Jenny first started talking about her dreams and memories of Mary when she was four years old. As an adult, during her investigation, she found that the family name was Sutton.
In 2000,
CBS
aired
Yesterday's Children
, which was a made-for-
TV movie
adaptation of Cockell's book, with
Jane Seymour
as Jenny. In the movie, Jenny's character was rewritten as an American named Jenny Cole. Jenny's story was also featured in a TV show called "Strange But True," which is shown in a video clip below.
If you're interested in stories of past lives with memories
that have been verified, this is a "must read!"

I am excited to share with you another of my favorite past life stories! I think Jenny Cockell's story is so fascinating! The summaries here necessarily leave out so many interesting facts from her story, so I hope you get a chance to read it for yourself. It was first published as
Yesterday's Children
and less than a year later the second edition,
Across Time and Death,
was published. That is the one I read, but I assume they are the same except for the cover. I think you will find the story amazing!

"For as long as she could remember, Jenny Cockell had known that she had lived before as a young Irishwoman who had died over twenty years before Jenny was born. Her constant dream-memory was of dying, alone and desperately worried about what would happen to the eight young children she was leaving behind. When at last her own children were born, Jenny finally acknowledged that she needed to find out what had happened to her lost family." Through her bit by bit investigation over several years, she found that she carried memories of Mary Sutton.
Across Time and Death is the compelling story of a mother's love that reached from one life to another to reclaim her children. In a voice so honest, plain, and sincere that you know her story must be true, Jenny Cockell writes of the dreams that haunted her childhood, the painstaking search for facts and details that confirmed the existence of her past life, the discovery of the fate of her family, and their emotional reunion."

Jenny Cockell with Five of Mary Sutton's Grown Children
The children eventually accepted Jenny as the reincarnation of their mother. All but the oldest had grown up in orphanages, and none of them knew where their siblings were until Jenny's investigation culminated in the reunion of the sisters and brothers who were still living.

Walter Semkiw, MD, and other past life story investigators believe that people often resemble in appearance the person they were in a past life. That seems to hold true in the pictures of Mary Sutton and Jenny Cockell below. You can see more samples of Semkiw's research on his website called Reincarnation Research.

Mary Sutton lived in Ireland from 1898 to 1932. Jenny Cockell was born England in 1953.

I want to remind you of the
Hay House "You Can Heal Your Life Summit"
which continues until May 14. There are eight sets, each with eight to fifteen inspiring New Age speakers to choose from, and each set is available for 48 hours. The first began on April 30, and some have finished, but there are several sets still available for listening or viewing.
It is free!
They offer you the opportunity to buy the material to keep, but you don't have to unless you decide you want it all. I never buy it, but I always come away with new inspiration from the ones I choose to listen to. I hope you are able to listen to some of your favorite authors and teachers! Here's a link. Enjoy!
