Your Help is Requested to Complete the
SHIN-NY Customer Satisfaction and Usage Survey!

NORC at the University of Chicago , an independent non-profit research organization, is administering a web survey designed to assess user experience with health information exchange services offered by Rochester RHIO. The SHIN-NY Customer Satisfaction and Usage survey was sent out the week of October 28 and is already underway. The results of this survey will be used to improve health information exchange services provided by New York's eight Qualified Entities and the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY).

The survey asks about how an organization uses specific clinical data exchange services provided by Rochester RHIO in care delivery. Questions also focus on the level of satisfaction with the different Rochester RHIO services as well as challenges around the use of the services.

We greatly value your feedback and ask that if you receive a mail or email invitation to participate in the survey that you complete it as soon as possible. After completing this brief online survey, respondents will receive a gift code or can donate their gift to a charitable organization.

This survey is commissioned by the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) and the New York State Department of Health. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact the NORC at the University of Chicago team at SHIN-NY@norc.org or call them at 1-800-975-2754.

Deadline to complete the survey is December 31, 2019 .

Lifespan of Greater Rochester Wins Prestigious Award
Credit: Archstone Foundation

Lifespan of Greater Rochester recently won the Archstone Foundation Award for its Community Care Connections (CCC) program. In 2015, Lifespan created the CCC pilot program with support from the New York State Department of Health. The goal was to prove that integrating traditional community-based partnerships with healthcare providers positively affects cost, quality, and patient and physician satisfaction. The program has received national recognition.

Lifespan contracted with Rochester RHIO to provide encounter data for pre- and post-intervention comparisons for the CCC program. The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) then used the data to evaluate CCC's effectiveness and return on investment (ROI). Overall, the program achieved several positive outcomes. Estimated ROI was $4 per dollar spent on providing care through the program. Read more about the award.

Across the region’s urban, rural and suburban communities, the top health concern is poverty. It drives health inequities that undermine wellness and cut lives short more than any other single cause of illness, according to an extensive new report by Common Ground Health, the health research and planning organization for the Rochester-Finger Lakes region.

“We’ve failed to understand the extent to which poverty deprives whole populations of vigor and longevity,” said Wade Norwood, CEO of Common Ground Health.
