Urge Pres. Biden to Expand Aid for Afghans Fleeing Violence

In an effort to address the unfolding tragedy in Afghanistan, please contact the Biden administration to urge them to greatly expand opportunities for Afghans seeking refuge from violence, including through humanitarian aid and particularly through welcoming the most vulnerable Afghans into the United States.

Ask Congress to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons Spending in 2022 Budget

President Biden has indicated an interest in reducing the number of nuclear weapons, but his 2022 budget proposal includes unnecessary and immoral nuclear weapons spending.

Facebook Knew it Had a Human Trafficking Problem

For years Facebook has known that it has had human trafficking occurring on its platform. According to internal company documents, Facebook notes that it knew of trafficking of domestic workers since 2018 and has struggled to tackle the problem, with employees rushing “to take down problematic content and make emergency policy changes to avoid what they described as a ‘potentially severe’ consequence for the business.”

People who bought during the gun sales surge from 2020 to 2021 were more likely to have had suicidal thoughts than other gun owners or non-gun owners, according to a new study published in Journal of the American Medical Association Open Network that surveyed 6,404 adults.

U.S. Records Show Physical, Sexual Abuse at Border

According to internal government reports, between 2016 and 2021, US Customs and Border Protection officers, US Border Patrol agents, and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials engaged in misconduct and abuse of asylum seekers. The asylum officers alleged “physical, sexual, and verbal abuse, due process violations, harsh detention conditions, denial of medical care, and discriminatory treatment at or near the border.”

All sisters are invited to participate in the Rivers of Hope/Rios de Esperanza Pilgrimages, a series of four virtual visits to hear from those ministering with people impacted by some of society’s most difficult situations.

Presenters will share how they find hope and strength, and opportunities will be provided for prayer and small group conversations.
