Justice Matters is back after a summer pause, and we’re kicking off the fall semester with something truly worth celebrating! This September, we shared the news that CUNY SPH will soon offer an MPH in Sexual and Reproductive Justice & Health—a milestone for the Hub and for the field. We’re excited to highlight this new program and share more updates, events, and opportunities to stay connected with our growing SRJ community.

We’re thrilled to announce a major milestone for the SRJ Hub and CUNY SPH: beginning January 2026, students will be able to pursue a new MPH concentration in Sexual and Reproductive Justice and Health! Inspired by the vision and work of the Hub, this first-of-its-kind program at a school of public health reflects our commitment to advancing equity and justice in public health. The concentration will prepare future leaders to re-imagine sexual and reproductive health through a justice-centered, interdisciplinary lens. We couldn’t be prouder to see the Hub’s mission taking shape in the curriculum and can’t wait to welcome the first cohort of students into this exciting new chapter.

We’re proud to highlight the work of recent CUNY SPH graduate, Dima Masoud (PhD, '25), who recently completed her dissertation, “The Ecology of Gender-Based Violence for Syrian Refugee Women in Tripoli and Akkar.” Her research provides a detailed look at the social, cultural, and structural factors that contribute to gender-based violence in these communities, offering evidence that can inform policies and programs to better support Syrian refugee women.

Under the stewardship of the SRJ Hub, the campaign has transitioned into a year-round initiative, reflecting the 365-days-a-year efforts of feminist activists to shift norms, secure accountability, and transform power structures that oppress women, girls, and gender-diverse people.

@365toendGBV and @cunysph.srjhub Learning about your body is your right.Being able to name your needs, your limits, your desires and your identity is how power begins. Yet around the world, millions are denied the right to self-determine:
📍1 billion people lack legal identity. 📍40% of women live under restrictive abortion laws. 📍Only 55% of women globally can decide about sex, contraception, or healthcare for themselves. 📍Being trans is still criminalized in 13 countries.
These are not just statistics—they are the result of policies that fear autonomy and punish difference. Let’s reclaim the power of knowing, deciding, and existing on our own terms.
📢 Learn. Share. Resist.
