"Now is the time when our call to Sacred Resistance becomes clear and necessary. We stand on the side of the loving and liberating Jesus who calls us to be justice-seekers and peacemakers in the face of state violence and oppression."  Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles

Welcoming our Neighbors

Town Hall Meeting Tonight

Join SB ACT tonight at 5:30PM for an urgent Town Hall at the FARO Center (621 Chapala Street).

Over the past year, more than 1,200 people experiencing homelessness have found healing, dignity, and real support at FARO. But now, the City of Santa Barbara is moving to dismantle the model by removing meals, limiting access, reducing services, and replacing SB ACT as its operator. This is about more than just a program, it’s about the kind of community we want to be, and we need your support now more than ever. Register HERE. For questions contact: info@sbact.org.

A Reminder from the Episcopal Bishops of California

Our Baptismal Covenant asks us, “Will you strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being (BCP p. 417)?” This question is a direct and ongoing call to us as persons who follow Christ to live out our calling opposed to injustice, to violence of any kind, and to stand up where human beings are not treated as we would treat a child of God." Protecting Older Family Members

Ensuring Safety, Dignity, and Respect

In the midst of our efforts for community justice, let us not overlook the needs of our own households and the senior members of our congregation. We can help protect our parents in their older years.

  • Discuss financial matters, maintain open lines of communication, and explore creating a financial plan to manage their affairs.
  • Start slowly and try to meet them where they are. It's essential not to be overly forceful with an idea they're not comfortable with.
  • Consider whether or not you’ll need to provide support for them as they age.
  • If our parents are willing to share their financial situation, we can determine whether we’ll need to supplement their care and plan accordingly.
Author, Janice Walton is a psychologist, a widow, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a writer. Her book Aging Well: 30 Lessons for Making the Most of Your Later Years is available on Amazon.

News from the Diocese of Los Angeles

Sacred Resistance Organizes Donations for Families in Need.

Sacred Resistance—the immigration justice ministry of the Diocese of Los Angeles—is organizing donations for families affected by ICE raids, seeking shelf-stable food donations, personal hygiene items, household essentials, and baby products, in addition to financial donations. In-kind donations may be made at 6125 Carlos Ave, Los Angeles.

Sacred Resistance Fund managed through St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Hollywood. You can make a donation via PayPal or Venmo @ststephenshollywood.

Celebrate and Support Justice

Celebrate loved ones by using the envelopes in the pews

to recognize a special family member or event.

Turn your memories into a donation to the Justice and Outreach Council. We will use these funds to provide comfort and safety to those in need—food, education for children, assistance to immigrants—any of our neighbors needing support. . . so they can celebrate. Together, these gifts make possible our community of welcome, reconciliation, and service.

There are two ways you can continue to celebrate and support our justice work in addition to your pledges both now and in the future. Send in a check made out to Trinity and simply note “Justice” in the memo line and provide the names of the persons or occasion you want to celebrate. Or donate via Trinity’s PayPal account, select "Justice Fund" and under “special instructions” provide the names of the persons or occasion you want to celebrate.

Thank you to our celebration donors in June.

Land Acknowledgement

We honor and acknowledge the Chumash people, the traditional custodians of this land, and pay our respects to the Chumash elders, past, present, and future, who call this land on which we sit their home. We appreciate their wisdom, their culture, and their presence among us today as the host people of this land. We lament the injustices done to the original inhabitants and the injustices done to this land in the centuries since. We seek the courage and wisdom to heal the wounds of the past and build a better future together, in deep solidarity.
