New Facilities Expand DJJDP Detention Capacity

Rockingham Youth Development Center

In June, the Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention placed the first youth at the newly completed Rockingham Youth Development Center in Reidsville. This 60-bed facility will greatly expand the division’s ability to offer services to North Carolina's most vulnerable youth.

Perquimans Juvenile Detention Center

This month, the first youth will enter the newly renovated Perquimans Juvenile Detention Center in Winfall. Originally constructed in the late 90s, this facility has been updated and will house 24 youth in detention, providing a valuable public safety resource in Northeastern North Carolina.
