Byun Jae-wook (Hwang Jung-min) is a hotheaded prosecutor, respected for his dogged pursuit of the truth and notorious for his aggressive investigations. When a small-time criminal he interrogated is found dead, all evidence points to Jae-wook, who receives a 15-year sentence. Five years on, Jae-wook practically runs the prison from inside when he meets a young fraudster, Chi-won (Kang Dong-won), with information about Jae-wook's botched case. The unlikely partners devise a scheme to free them both, but can they trust one another long enough to make their case?

Now in its 31st year, Filmfest DC celebrates over three decades of presenting thousands of new films to Washington, DC in an 11-day festival comprised of 70-80 new and significant films. This year FIlm fest DC highlights Korean cinema with two notable films: The Net, from legendary director Kim Ki-duk, has been well received at prestigious film festivals internationally (April 23, 25). Train to Busan, directed by Yeon Sang-ho, is an entertaining zombie apocalypse thriller (April 22, 29). Details and tickets here.

The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. proudly presents Space, a new exhibition of photography and installation works by four contemporary Korean artists that embraces the real, virtual, and imagined spaces crowding modern, technology-infused societies. On view April 7 - 28, Space comprises 20 perspective-bending works by Daniel Kyong, Eunkyung Lee, In Sun Jang and Kwang Chan Song. Details here.
2017 Season OnStage Korea: Baraji

The KCC presents the 2nd Showcase of the OnStage Korea 2017 Season featuring the Korean traditional music ensemble Baraji performing Beasohn: Song of Prayer and other signature works from their debut album. Deep emotion, time-honored tradition, and modern flair converge in the moving, life-affirming music of Baraji. With the launch of OnStage Korea in March, this second showcase will continue to celebrate the richness and diversity of Korean performing arts in Washington, D.C.
