Interview Tips

In this process, our team is dedicated to helping you feel comfortable and confident so we can hear your unique perspectives.

For more tips on navigating an interview, feel free to visit the K-State Career Center interview tips website on how to do so.

Interview Process

HDS Graduate Assistant interviews usually progress through three steps:

  • 1st Round - Two interviewers with a list of questions for you, time provided at end for your questions. One hour in duration
  • 2nd Round - Questions are provided, but we give more time in the interview to prioritize your questions. This format may feel different comparatively to other interviews you have experienced. Our goal is to ensure you know K-State and Residence Life are the correct fit for you. One hour in duration
  • On-Campus- We will invite a select number of candidates to visit us in-person. These interview days will be two consecutive days with a variety of interviews and activities that prepare you to make a decision on accepting/declining our positions.

What's Next?

We are currently hiring for at least seven positions.

Within the department, we have three different graduate assistant roles you may work in. To brush up on our position descriptions refer back to our first K-State GA Newsletter.

As you consider HDS, K-State, and Manhattan as a future home, please visit our website for a variety of informational newsletters. We've also created a few videos that express why we believe you'd love to join our team. Below are our "Why HDS?" "Why K-State?" and "Why Manhattan, KS?" videos.
