Research project looks at how temperature affects food safety of school lunches

Researchers at Kansas State University and K-State Olathe are collaborating on a project that is using temperature to improve the safety of leftover food in schools and child care centers. 

  
Industry leaders discuss Kansas City workforce needs at degree roundtable

At a recent Kansas State University Olathe roundtable, 28 industry leaders from Kansas City's bioscience, animal health and food production sectors discussed the skills and training needs of Greater Kansas City's workforce to keep the region competitive and continue to grow.
New college access program launches for Johnson, Wyandotte counties

Bernard Franklin and Meaghan Higgins are overseeing the newly established Kansas State College Advising Corps at
K-State Olathe. The program helps low-income, first-generation college and underrepresented high school students from Wyandotte and Johnson counties enter and complete higher education. 


Hospitality management professor joins K-State Olathe

Jim Storey joined K-State Olathe as a professor of practice in hospitality management. Part of his role includes overseeing the university's hospitality management degree, which is an effort that involves establishing a 2 + 2 hospitality management program with Johnson County Community College.

  • Lunch and Learn: FSMA Regulations, Aug. 8 -- K-State Olathe, the National Institute of Food Technologists and the Kansas City Section of the Institute of Food Technologists are sponsoring a lunch and learn at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at K-State Olathe.  Jennifer McEntire, vice president of science operations with the Grocery Manufacturers Association, will present the new Food Safety Modernization Act, or FSMA, regulations and answer questions.  She is an expert on the Food and Drug Administration Food Safety Modernization Act, food safety regulations, traceability and food defense.
