Marianne Swaney-Stueve is a research assistant professor in Kansas State University's department of food, nutrition, dietetics and health, and manager of the Sensory and Consumer Research Center at K-State Olathe. At the center, she and colleagues use sensory testing to look at consumer preferences about food and other products. Qualitative and quantitative information from these studies are then provided to industry partners, who may adjust product ingredients, preparation methods or marketing to better meet consumer interests.

• Healthy Cooking for Diabetes, June 6 -- K-State Olathe is offering a class that helps residents with Type 2 diabetes learn how to cook easy, delicious meals that help them manage diabetes through a healthy diet. Mary Partridge Mary Partridge was named the full-time events coordinator at Kansas State University Olathe. She had been serving as the interim coordinator.  She develops and coordinates conferences, workshops, meeting space reservations and special events for K-State Olathe faculty and staff in addition to businesses, groups and organizations in Greater Kansas City. K-State Olathe recently hosted the 2017 Research Showcase. More than 80 Kansas State University faculty and staff members shared their research with business leaders in Greater Kansas City. The showcase was devoted to creating new university-industry partnerships in order to help Kansas City-based companies rapidly move their products and technologies to market. Breakout sessions featured a faculty member and industry partner discussing how the collaboration began and the benefits of partnering with researchers in higher education. 

Danny Unruh,  graduate research assistant and doctoral candidate in food science at K-State Olathe, was a nominee for the Golden Key International Honour Society's Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant Award. The award recognizes outstanding classroom and laboratory contributions by graduate students. 

Eight students at K-State Olathe recently earned their graduate degrees from Kansas State University. The graduates were honored by K-State Olathe faculty and staff and their friends and family during a reception on Thursday, May 25.
