Veterinarian says the same food safety rules that apply to humans also apply to pets 
 

This holiday season, pet owners may be tempted to share the holiday cheer with their furry friends by giving pets tidbits of human food. A Kansas State University veterinarian shares several food safety tips on how people can keep themselves and their pets healthy and food safe this holiday season. 

Upcoming regulatory affairs seminar about new technologies in the market

On Dec. 7, K-State Olathe is hosting the education seminar  "Regulatory Challenges Associated with New Technology Implementation." Designed for the animal health industry, thi s seminar focuses on achieving a positive outcome for bringing new technologies to market and addressing potential regulatory challenges of new technologies.

Faculty, students donate thousands of pounds of produce to those in need

Through a collaboration with the nonprofit agency, After the Harvest, the K-State Olathe Horticulture Research and Extension Center donated thousands of pounds of fresh produce to food banks so they could feed the hungry in the Kansas City area.

Three students earn awards at KC One Health Day, draws large audience

Three students, including a Kansas State University graduate student, received scholarships for their research at Kansas City One Health Day. The event drew nearly 150 attendees. 

Supply chain operations 'boot camp' offered Feb. 8, 2018

K-State Olathe is offering an intense professional development course that provides a broad overview of supply chain management topics. The goal is to prepare emerging leaders with a broad knowledge of individual supply chain specialty areas, how each area fits into the supply chain as a whole and their interactions. 

Chinese officials discuss academic collaborations with K-State Olathe

Representatives from the Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology recently met with administrators, faculty and staff at K-State Olathe to discuss academic opportunities.

  • Chinese Culinary Workshop, Dec. 11 -- Enjoy Chinese food? Learn how to cook five Chinese dishes at the upcoming Chinese Culinary Workshop. The workshop is from
    5:30-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 at K-State Olathe. The class will be taught by a professional Chinese chef and all dishes made during the class will be eaten at the end. Register now
Around the campus
 

In early November, K-State Olathe welcomed Seema Verma, administrator for the Center for Medicare Services (CMS), to K-State Olathe. Verma participated in a small group discussion about Medicare with area residents. She was accompanied to by Tim Keck, secretary for the Kansas Dept. of Aging and Disability Services, and introduced by Olathe Mayor Mike Copeland. Johnson County K-State Research and Extension provided programming and assistance for the open enrollment event that was held.

Several local entrepreneurs in the food industry met at 
K-State Olathe to learn about food safety regulations and inspections in Kansas and Missouri. In addition to learning about how these topics apply to restaurants, farmers markets and selling through retail stores, attendees also participated in a hands-on activity related to proper cleaning of food facilities. The session was part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week Kansas City. 


Students enrolled in the Master of Agribusiness Animal Health Cohort met at K-State Olathe for an on-campus session. Students and staff convene every August and October at K-State Olathe for a week of in-person classes as part of the 2 1/2-year distance program, which teaches in-demand business skills to workers in Greater Kansas City's animal health and food industries.
