Cookie entrepreneurs finding sweet success with 
K-State Olathe services
 

Christina's Cookie Co., a cookie startup in Kansas, is using kitchen space and industry-grade cooking appliances and equipment at K-State Olathe to grow their business. Recently, the company used the venue for a week to bake and package 4,000 cookies for Ciderfest.

The second of four education seminars about hot topic regulatory affairs issues tailored to the animal health industry is Dec. 7 at K-State Olathe. The topic is "Regulatory Challenges Associated with New Technology Implementation." More information and registration details will be announced soon. 
Faculty profile: Bryan Severns
  

Bryan Severns is the manager of food programs and services at K-State Olathe. He oversees the campus' five kitchens and the Food Innovation Accelerator. He also teaches a meat selection class and a healthy cooking course for people with Type-2 diabetes. He shares his journey on transitioning from fish and wildlife management to becoming a chef.

  • Small (Pet) Animal Medicine, Nov. 8 -- Neala Boyer, D.V.M., clinical assistant professor in the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, will discuss how veterinarians treat small pets. The free lecture is from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at K-State Olathe. It is part of the Careers and Cases in Veterinary Medicine Lectures. Register now
  • Master of agribusiness webinar, Nov. 15 -- From noon to 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 15, Deborah Kohl, coordinator of Kansas State University's Master of Agribusiness program, or MAB, will give a live webinar discussing the graduate program and its animal health cohort emphasis that supports the Animal Health Corridor. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and will receive an application fee waiver for the K-State Graduate School (valued at $65). Evie Kowalewski joins the Kansas State University Olathe campus as the program coordinator for the associate dean.

Kansas State University President Richard Myers and Provost April Mason came to the Olathe campus to discuss universitywide initiatives and recent milestones in the university's path to being named a Top 50 public research university by 2025.
 
Dee Dee Cassone, senior professor of practice in industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, spoke to members of the Kansas City Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers as part of the chapter's fall conference, which they held at K-State Olathe. She discussed approaches and tools to help with the decision making process. Cassone specializes in in a science-based approach engineers can use to evaluate projects and products in their company.


Bruce Tulgan, one of the nation's leaders in management training and generational diversity, discussed effective leadership in a changing employee landscape at the Oct. 19 professional development event, Leading through Change.

Freshmen and sophomore students at Allen Village High School in Kansas City, Missouri, practiced soft skills and got tips from professionals about how to interview and prepare for the workforce. Martha Nowak, K-State Olathe K-12 team member, brought her expertise and enthusiasm to the event.
