Invitation to April 16 open house at K-State Olathe

Join us from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, for the All-University Open House at K-State Olathe. Open house is a day of free entertainment, education and fun for all ages, so bring your friends and family. See some of the highlights below and the complete schedule of activities on our website. Fermented foods and Fido

Food programs has something for you and the family pet. Learn about the benefits of fermented foods as well as how make your own creations. Or, from noon to 2 p.m., you can test your culinary skills at making a homemade pet treat with novel proteins.
Health, gardening and beyond

K-State Research and Extension agents will offer comprehensive information, including advice and tips about lawns and gardens, healthy snacking and food storage, insect identification, Alzheimer's disease, water quality, nuisance critters and more at 14 different booths. Free Cherokee purple tomato plants also will be available from Olathe Horticulture Research and Extension Center.
Sensory research

In an unbranded taste test, would you prefer a store brand or the national brand? Can you identify four common aromas? Participate in a taste test and an aroma activity with the Sensory and Consumer Research Center. Also, learn about becoming a paid participant in our studies.
Good eats

A variety of free food will be offered throughout the day. The morning will feature a pancake breakfast while lunch will be a Cajun classic from Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen. Purple Pride ice cream -- K-State's signature ice cream from the Call Hall Dairy Bar in Manhattan, Kansas -- also will be served to visitors. 
Sports radio live broadcast

K-State Olathe will be the source for a live broadcast by local sports radio morning show Sports Radio 810 WHB from 9 a.m. to noon.
Traveling to campus

A reminder that the Garmin Marathon also is April 16 and the route passes east of the campus on College Boulevard. To ensure easy access, plan to take K-7 to the College Boulevard exit and then travel east to the campus. Parking is available in both the K-State Olathe parking lot and the west parking lot of the College Boulevard Activity Center.
