Faculty Profile: Rebekkah Stuteville
Rebekkah "Becky" Stuteville is the assistant dean of academic support services and a teaching associate professor in the School of Applied and Interdisciplinary Studies. A former senior-level specialist for the U.S. Department of Housing and Human Development, she shares her love for policy-making and navigating these rules and regulations to find solutions. Around the campus
More than 1,500 people attended our 2018 All-University Open House on April 7. Attendees were treated to a day of free activities, food and entertainment that was geared for all ages. Thank you to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you at our next open house in 2019.

Danny Unruh, graduate research assistant and doctoral student in food science, recently gave his dissertation defense on food policy issues from a laboratory perspective. Unruh has spent several years at K-State Olathe conducting experiments on STEC bacteria's resistance to current food-safe practices and sanitizers. He discussed how these practices fit under the nation's food safety policies and strategies to address unknown future food safety issues.

Young professionals from across the metro area enjoyed a recent networking and liqueur tasting event at our campus. Attendees learned how to make limoncello, a wild blueberry liqueur with cinnamon and a peach with anise liqueur. The event was offered in partnership with Overland Park Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals and Olathe Chamber of Commerce YOPros.

K-State Olathe recently crowned the winners of the Willie and the Salad Bonanza Contest.
The Olathe North High School team once again succeeded in growing more lettuce, kale and spinach in a container than any other high school team in the area, while Prairie Trail Middle School won for their division. Contestants had 47 days to grow the most leafy biomass for a competition that supports the urban farm to table movement.
The competition was co-sponsored by Compass Minerals, a plant nutrition supplier.

Members of the the external advisory board for K-State Olathe's Professional Science Master's degree program recently met to discuss marketing, student experience and programming, and also hear from current students. The board is made up of industry and community leaders interested in guiding the next generation of scientific professionals.
