All-University Open House features women's soccer game and more
The All-University Open House at Kansas State University's Olathe campus is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6. The event will have free, hands-on demonstrations, activities, information, food, exhibits and more that appeal to all ages in Greater Kansas City. The K-State fun continues when the women's soccer team holds a spring game at 1 p.m.

A multidisciplinary team of professors and a former research assistant from Kansas State University have just contributed a chapter on laws and regulations for the new book, "Master of Public Health Competencies: A Case Study Approach," for the Council on Education for Public Health.

Strengthening partnerships with contract research organizations, or CROs, is the focus of an upcoming professional development seminar for the animal health industry. The seminar is part of the ongoing regulatory affairs in animal health series.

Due to inclement weather, the 1Data conference is now March 27. Registrants will be automatically re-registered -- although it's not too late for first-time registrants to sign up. The seminar looks at how a clearinghouse platform for human and animal health data can transform research and expedite breakthroughs for human and animal health.

Heather Woods joins the horticulture and natural resources department as the program coordinator for the urban food systems program. She oversees management, outreach and fundraising to support and market the program.

- Veterinary medicine lectures -- This free lecture series from the university's College of Veterinary Medicine is geared to high school students, parents, teachers and the general public who are interested in learning more about the animal health profession. Lectures are from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Olathe campus and can be streamed online. Upcoming lectures are:

Around the campus
Dozens of independent food producers in the region attended a recent farmers' market vendor workshop at the Olathe campus to learn about vendor marketing and communications; pest control and soil health; regulations on on selling meat, eggs and poultry; sales tax for vendors; and much more. The workshop was a joint effort by the Kansas Department of Agriculture, K-State Research and Extension and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Royce Ann Collins
, associate professor and graduate program director of
adult learning and leadership
at K-State Olathe and Fort Leavenworth, and Judy Favor, assistant professor of adult learning and leadership, recently led the Adult Learning Symposium for veterinarians who attended the national VMX Veterinary Meeting and Expo in Orlando, Florida. Throughout the course of a day, Collins and Favor led five modules that taught veterinarians how to better engage and communicate with adults, whom veterinarians work with in various professionals capacities and roles.
