More than 120,000 lakes and ponds are located in Kansas and Missouri. When algae, which grows naturally in many of these bodies of water, grows out of control, the blooms can kill animals and nearby plant life, and cause mild to severe medical symptoms in people. The Nov. 3 Kansas City One Health Day looks at harmful algal booms' impact on humans, animals and the environment and what can be done to mitigate this issue that's becoming a growing health concern. |

National search announced for chief executive officer of K-State Olathe |
A national search for the chief executive officer of K-State Olathe is underway. The university has engaged the services of Academic Career and Executive Search, an executive search firm, to support the search committee with the process. Interviews are anticipated to begin in January 2022.

Lauren Racki is the new professional development manager at Kansas State University's Olathe campus, following an external search. She will develop and oversee noncredit programs that address workforce talent gaps in Greater Kansas City.
