KACB Receives Harvey Recovery Grant from Keep Texas Beautiful
Awarded $7565 Grant
We are excited to report that KTB has generously granted us and several other counties in the area funds to help us in our post Harvey work!

KACB lost everything during the hurricane in the storage building we were renting and are having to restock and resupply from scratch. We will use these funds to purchase a mobile cargo trailer that will also serve as advertising for our programs as we are out and about. Also, now that we are in the process of repairing the Rockport-Fulton Welcome signs, we now also have added funds for new landscaping!

A big Thank You to Keep Texas Beautiful for your ongoing support to all the counties that were affected by Harvey!
Corpus Christi Mayor Makes Large Donation to Assist KACB in Harvey Recovery Work

We cannot thank Mayor Joe McComb enough for reaching out to KACB and entrusting us with his Harvey FEMA grant money! Monies will be dedicated strictly toward Harvey repair and cleanup like at Cove Harbor, the Rockport Blue Crab, etc.

Detox Tip of the Month - Hummingbird Feeding
HummerBird Festival is this Week!
Sept. 13th to 16th

The speaker line up this year is fantastic. We at KACB are particularly excited to hear our friend Katie Swanson with Mission Aransas' talk entitled:
Harvey's Impact to Birding Habitats

We are proud to say that we intend to have better partnering with Mission Aransas, Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries and the Aransas County Navigation District.

We are in the planning stages to tackle Cove Harbor Cleanup and other Estuaries impacted by Harvey before the end of the year.

Here is a fantastic article by David Sikes with the Corpus Christi Caller on the needs to help restore our birding rookeries:

Proper Hummingbird Feeding
Given that we have the spotlight on Aransas County's unique birding playground, we thought we'd address the proper feeding and care of our Hummingbirds. Many people don't realize that there are in fact do(s) and don't(s) when feeding our Hummers. Like:
  • Don't use Red Food Coloring
  • Do use refined white sugar 1 part Sugar to 4 parts water
  • Do clean your feeders to remove bacteria and change out the mixture every 2 to 3 days.
