We held our AGM on February 19th where we welcomed Kevin Cousins as the new President and 3 new Board members! We held a great panel discussion with some local business owners and managers following the meeting.

Rural Enhancement Employment Program:
Wage Subsidy for private business
The Rural Enhancement Employment Program (REEP) is now accepting applications for 2025–26. This program helps rural Prince Edward Island businesses create and grow local employment by offering a wage subsidy for new positions that strengthen community capacity and the rural economy.
Here’s how it works:
• Eligible businesses located outside the Greater Charlottetown area and Summerside core can apply.
• Funding can cover up to 50% of a new position’s wages (up to $18/hour) for up to 20 weeks, plus up to 50% of related employer costs like EI and CPP.
• Priority is given to new or expanding businesses and jobs with strong potential to become permanent full-time roles.
Applications are reviewed year-round, with activities required to be completed by March 31, 2026.

Denee Gallant Ramsay owns Eternal Wellness in South Rustico!
For the first 10 years as a fitness facility, they specialized in personalized fitness programming in a group fitness setting so that beginners and advanced exercisers can train together and get a great workout where ever people are in their health journey. They offer 24hr swipe card access, group fitness classes, small group training, personal training and Adult and Kids Kickboxing.
Since the expansion into the wellness center (Fall 2022), they added Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Cupping, Meridian Massage, Acupressure massage, Nutrition/ Lifestyle Coaching and Meal Prep Education and more!

Kensington Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 9
The Kensington Royal Canadian Legion Branch 9 actively supports the community by providing an essential, accessible gathering space. The significant project to relocate and renovate their facility to ensure full barrier-free accessibility highlights their commitment to serving all patrons, including the elderly and those with disabilities. By hosting community groups like the Ladies Auxiliary and the Lions Club, and making the venue available for banquets, weddings, and other special functions, the Legion directly enhances the social and civic life of the town, demonstrating an impact that reaches far beyond its membership.
Furthermore, the Branch's core work ensures that the sacrifices of Canadian veterans are never forgotten through Remembrance activities and local monument maintenance, like the cenotaph. Coupled with its financial assistance and support programs for Veterans and their families (funded in part by the Poppy Campaign) the Kensington Legion represents a powerful model of community benevolence. Its dedicated volunteer base and commitment to local service make it an indispensable organization that profoundly strengthens the fabric of Kensington.
They have an upcoming social event this Saturday, a St. Patrick's Day dance starting from 8:00pm - 11:00pm.
