Every dollar spent at a locally run business – whether it’s a small independent, a franchise, or part of a chain – helps keep jobs in our community and protects our provincial economy.

We all have a role to play in protecting local jobs and keeping our economy strong. Whether you’re a consumer, business owner, or community leader, prioritizing spending with locally run businesses, in person or online, makes a real and impactful difference.

Historically, in times of need, Islanders have shown up for each other. Every. Single. Time. It’s time again.

UPCOMNG EVENTS

Food Crawl Workshop 2.0: A New Spin on Collaboration & Creativity!

We’re excited to announce Food Crawl Workshop #2 happening on Tuesday, April 9 starting at 12:30pm—and it will be our final funded event, so let’s make it count!

Help us wrap up this series with great participation, fresh ideas, and, of course… delicious food.

If you haven’t experienced a Food Crawl Workshop yet, here’s the deal:

This is not your typical business event. It’s a fun, informal, and hands-on workshop where we combine local eats with creative thinking to tackle real business challenges.

What’s involved:

Three stops at local spots (Island Stone Pub + Willow Bakery)

Three rounds of delicious food—think burger sliders, mini fish, and cinnamon rolls

Three creative phases of problem-solving

One dynamic group of local business owners and operators

Got a challenge you'd love help with?

We’re inviting a few participants to bring forward a real business challenge they’d love fresh perspectives on. It could be anything from a big decision you're weighing to a frustrating problem you can’t quite solve. If you’ve got something on your mind, this is a perfect chance to get collective insights from your peers!

Want to put a challenge forward? Just reply to this email or send us a quick message.

No challenge? No problem!

Even if you don’t have a specific challenge in mind, we still have plenty to explore, including:

How might we retain employees and keep them happy and motivated—without constantly increasing salaries?

How might we encourage more peer-to-peer support and mentorship to unlock cross-generational knowledge transfer? (So we capture the expertise of people who’ve been there forever!)

Whether you’re coming to brainstorm, contribute, or just connect with other business owners who get it, this is your chance to engage in meaningful conversations, exchange ideas, and leave with real insights—all while enjoying a fantastic local food experience.

$10 for Chamber Members and $20 for non-members

Spots are limited—register online here!

Let’s make this Food Crawl Workshop more than just a problem-solving session—let’s make it a space for connection, creativity, and shared success!

Come on out for a fun evening of games for prizes and socializing! All are welcome!

We are celebrating the KACC President, Iain McCarvill and the rest of the volunteer KACC Board of Directors for this year! Tickets are $25 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members.

There will be munchies, prizes, networking and lots of fun!

The KACC Chamber Board is very excited to be kicking off the golf season by hosting their golf tournament on Thursday, May 22nd at Anderson’s Creek Golf Club. Thank you to Scotia Wealth Management (Wade Hulbert) for sponsoring this event once again this year!

Putting together a golf team in a tournament is a great way to promote team spirit and enjoy time with your co-workers/friends and of course, to have some fun!

The team price is $500 for 4 players ($125 for an individual) which includes the green fee, cart, meal and prizes to be awarded after the tournament.

If you are interested, please fill out the registration form and email to Julie at kensingtonandareachamber@gmail.co

Greetings from Town Hall

As local business owners, you're already champions of the buy-local movement, and your efforts are what keep Kensington's economy and spirit strong. We know, however, the current uncertainty around trade has added another layer of challenges to your work. Supporting each other has never been more important. By staying local—whether it’s sourcing supplies or recommending neighboring businesses—we can weather these ups and downs together. Your resilience and collaboration are what make our community stand tall, and I’m proud to stand with you as we navigate these uncertain times.
