Over the last few months, the Heart of PEI working committee and The Town of Kensington have been collaborating with local artists in the development of cultural artwork aimed at showcasing all things representative of the area; celebrating our land and shores and creating authentic experiences in the Heart of PEI.

This event is taking place in accordance with the Province of Prince Edward Island’s current COVID-19 Health regulations. Mandatory masks, physical distancing will be enforced and added safety measures will be in place for your safety. 
The Heart of PEI is a Kensington and Area Chamber of Commerce led initiative with a five-year implementation plan to enhance the area's destination appeal, strengthen authentic and unique experiences, bring awareness to product offerings in the area and increase visitation to come celebrate our land and shores.

Canadian Drone Law and Drone Training Tips
Join Lee Dodson, President of the Slemon Park 'Skygate Drone Training Academy' and the Transport Canada advanced drone instructor for the region, for a short presentation on the rules surrounding the use of drones in public places and what it takes to become a safe, professional drone pilot. Also check out some drone equipment and how drones are used in business to increase productivity.
INDUSTRY UPDATES
The CCTP Tourism Ignition Fund has been created to financially support innovative product development that entice locals and visitors to explore the central coastal region. The goal is to build and sustain a stronger profile of events, infrastructure and assets within the Green Gables Shore and Red Sands Shore. Applicants are encouraged to pursue opportunities that will increase revenue streams for their own private business. This can be achieved by offering new product, adding capacity, creating a new event, and/or building new visible infrastructure.
There will be two intakes for CCTP's Tourism Ignition Fund. First intake of applications will close on May 31, 2021 with applications being awarded on June 4, 2021. All activities that fall within the first intake should be completed on or before September 15th, 2021 with costs eligible from date of application to September 15th, 2021.Second intake of applications will be ongoing with further deadlines to be announced as they are confirmed. Any projects awarded in the second intake must be completed on or before March 1, 2022 with costs eligible from date of application to March 1, 2022.

Willow Bakery Cafe
Jocelyn and Jared Tobias put their heart and soul into everything they do. The Willow Bakery & Café opened on Monday, March 16, 2020….. YES… the day that all the COVID-19 restrictions began. It was a bitter sweet day for them. The community support has been overwhelming and you can see the joy in their faces as they greet the regular customers by name and welcome new customers!
