Thank you for joining us at our inaugural Women's Luncheon! Witnessing such a diverse and intergenerational group of Korean American women come together to lift up our community was truly inspiring and powerful.
Women make up a majority of the people impacted by the programs and initiatives KACF funds, and your collective support will help our neighbors like Mrs. Kim (Flushing Garden Florist) thrive as the pillars of their families and communities.
We conceived this eventγ
‘an extension of our Giving Summitγ
‘to create a space to celebrate the leadership and innovation of Korean American women like Julia Riew, Lina Lee, and Sarah Paiji Yoo who are at the forefront of shaping the future of social impact:
-
Composer-lyricist and writer Julia Riew shared that "giving back means giving forward" and how she has learned to use her talents and platform to help broaden the representation of Asian Americans in the arts that she did not see growing up.
-
Lina Lee, co-founder and Executive Director of Communities Resist (KACF grantee partner), reflected on how she was able to draw strength and purpose from her personal experiences as a child of immigrants to start a nonprofit empowering low-income families to fight against housing injustice.
-
Sarah Paiji Yoo, co-founder and CEO of Blueland, told the story of the company's founding and how its commitment to the planet and its people was "baked in from the start."
We look forward to continuing to deepen the connections we've made through the Luncheon and explore ways to make a greater difference together!
