Kairos Vol. 4, Issue #49

SLUMC Building Front
Rev. Marvin Arnpriester
Friends,

I have always wanted to be pastor of a "7-day a week" church. This means something is going on everyday.

When I look at the calendar, Sun Lakes is a church where something is going on most every day. There are the scheduled events for our church family each week,
there are outside groups that meet in one or more of our rooms on a regular basis, and we also have requests from time to time to use our building for a special event. There are only two requirements: that  a room is available, and  it cannot be used to make money as we are a 501-C3 organization. We do not seek to make money but to simply cover costs associated with utilities, staff, etc.

This means we sometimes have several groups meeting at the same time or groups who wish to be here on the same day at different times. So, can you say our staff and volunteers are busy? Behind all of this busyness is the desire to make a difference in the lives of folk who meet, worship, and learn here.

It is my fervent prayer that every person who enters our buildings is touched with a sense of God's presence revealed in the openness and acceptance of our church family.

On that first Christmas, life was busy with all sorts of activities going on. Into the busyness of that day a baby was born in the silence of a stable, which changed the world. In the busyness of our lives at this time of the year may we find a place, a stable, a place of silence where we might hear the angels sing of peace on Earth, good will to humanity. And like the shepherds, may we return to our busy lives glorifying and praising God for all we have seen and heard.

May the gift of peace be yours in a most special and meaningful way this year.

Marvin

Offering Envelope
Running low on your giving envelopes? Bundles of 13 envelopes are available all through the year for your convenience.

They are available from the Welcome Desk, ushers, or the Church Office.

Since the envelopes are no longer numbered, please make sure to put your name on your giving envelope. A clever idea is to use some of those free address labels that constantly show up in the mail. You can place one on your giving envelope and you'll be all set!
