DID YOU FILE YOUR EEO REPORTS?
April 1 brought the obligation for radio and television stations in Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas that are part of an Employment Unit with 5 or more full-time employees, to add to their online public inspection file their Annual EEO Public Inspection File Report.

This report documents the full-time employment openings at the station in the prior year, the recruitment sources used to fill those positions, and the non-vacancy specific outreach efforts that stations use to inform their community about broadcast job openings and the efforts they make to train their staffs to assume more involved roles at their stations.

MIKE TARTER ELECTED TO NAB BOARD
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) recently announced that Forcht Broadcasting President/CEO Mike Tarter is the newest member of the NAB Board of Directors. Tarter joins the 19 member board as an official board member on June 1, 2019 and will serve a two year term. The NAB Board is comprised of leaders from the radio and television industries across America. Members of the NAB Board are elected to their positions by receiving a majority of votes from their district’s NAB member radio and television stations. Mike Tarter will represent radio and television broadcasters in the Kentucky and West Virginia district.

Mike Tarter has worked in the radio broadcasting industry for over 40 years. He started his radio career in Liberty, Kentucky, and moved to Somerset, Kentucky in the 1980’s after graduating from Western Kentucky University. Tarter began in radio as a sports broadcaster and account executive. In the early 2000’s, he became the director of sales for Forcht Broadcasting and later, the group’s President/CEO, the position he holds today. Tarter oversees a radio team of about 66 full-time employees working at 25 radio stations in nine markets in three states.

Mike had this to say about the announcement, "It's such an honor and privilege to be elected to the NAB Board and to represent the broadcasters of Kentucky and West Virginia. So many outstanding individuals have served in this seat and to follow their legacy is very humbling. I am so very grateful to have this opportunity and will do my best to represent my follow broadcasters. I thank you for your support and encouragement."

Chairman of the Forcht Group of Kentucky and owner of Forcht Broadcasting Terry E. Forcht said of Mike Tarter’s election to the NAB Board of Directors, “I believe it’s important for our companies to be leaders in their respective industries, so I’m pleased that Mike Tarter will represent our radio group and radio groups across Kentucky and West Virginia on the National Association of Broadcaster’s Board of Directors. We know he will represent our group and radio well.”

Former NAB Board member and long-time friend of Forcht Broadcasting and owner of Henson Media in Henderson, Kentucky Ed Henson says of Tarter, “Mike has shown his commitment to serving the radio community through his dedicated service on the RAB (Radio Advertising Board) Board and by serving as Chairman and long-time board member of the Kentucky Association of Broadcasters. Judging from how he has served on these boards, Mike was certainly worthy of being elected to the NAB Board, and I know he will work hard on behalf of the radio stations in Kentucky and West Virginia. Kentucky has a long history of influential service on the NAB Board as exemplified by Steve Newberry, Walter May, Bud Walters, and Bill Evans. Because of his passion and commitment for radio and for radio broadcasters, Mike will continue in that tradition. He’s a “down in the trenches,” servant leader.”

Forcht Broadcasting Senior Vice-President Amy Stroud is grateful for Tarter’s service to the radio industry and to Forcht Broadcasting. “It is a pleasure to work alongside someone who believes in the power of local radio and in our staff who work hard each day to serve their communities. Mike will be an outstanding addition to the NAB Board of Directors, and I am happy for him, for radio, and for Forcht Broadcasting,” Stroud comments.

Mike Tarter is married to Robin Tarter, and they have two children, Andy and Ellie. Andy attends Morehead State University, and Ellie is a student at Western Kentucky University.
