NEW FACES ON THE BOARD IN 2020
VICKIE NEWBERRY - DIRECTOR AT LARGE
A native of Glasgow, Vickie Newberry is one of the primary shareholders of Commonwealth Broadcasting and has been a broadcast and civic leader in her community throughout her career.

Vickie began her radio career as a traffic director. Since that beginning, she’s been an air personality, news director, office manager, sales manager, general manager, and has even changed tubes in a transmitter. Despite her wide range of radio experiences, which goes hand-in-hand with being a small market broadcaster, Vickie’s greatest success has been in sales.

For over thirty years, Vickie has consistently been the leading revenue producer of every sales staff she has been a part of. Her sales success has been based on a knowledge of how radio best works, a dedication to getting results for clients and trust and confidence place in her by clients.

Those deep and trusting community relationships have led to her leadership in her community. She is a past Rotary president, has repeatedly been named Rotarian of the Year, is a Deacon at Glasgow First Christian Church and has served on multiple community boards. She is a past recipient of the Athena Award, presented by the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce to the community’s outstanding female business leader.

She resides in Hiseville, Kentucky with her husband Steve and their son Walker, a senior at Western Kentucky University.
ROTH STRATTON - RADIO DIRECTOR, DISTRICT 4
Roth Stratton began his radio career in Mayfield while in high school working at WNGO and WXID for his father, Charles Stratton, a former KBA President and Kentucky Mic Award winner. As General Manager in 1996, Roth negotiated the sale of the stations to what is now Forever Communications. He worked for Forever Communications, Bristol Broadcasting and Commonwealth Broadcasting during the next 13 years.

Stratton and his partners purchased WBRT in 2009 and have added both cable-casting and two FM translators to WBRT. In 2018, Bardstown Radio Team purchased WOKH-FM and reimaged it as “The Rocket”. In 2019, Bardstown Radio Team opened a satellite office/studio in Lebanon to compliment their WBRT and WOKH operations in Bardstown. Stratton has served as Managing Partner of Bardstown Radio Team since its inception.

Stratton’s community service includes being the youngest Chamber of Commerce President ever in Mayfield and leading the formation of the Tourism Commission in Mayfield. Stratton was named the Bardstown Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 2016. Roth and his wife, Lisa, reside in Bardstown where Lisa serves as Operations Supervisor for Bardstown Radio Team after retiring from a career in education.
AMY STROUD - DIRECTOR AT LARGE
Amy Stroud is the Senior Vice President of Forcht Broadcasting, a Kentucky-based radio group with 25 radio stations in nine markets in three states, (KY, IN, IL.) Amy also hosts a morning radio talk show in the group’s Somerset radio market – Mid-Mornings with Amy on Somerset 106.1 WYKY FM. Amy began with Forcht Broadcasting in June of 2012 and was named by the radio industry’s premier publication, Radio Ink magazine, as one of their Rising Stars in radio for 2014. Amy was selected in 2018 to receive a scholarship to attend Rising Through the Ranks at the BMI offices in Nashville. Rising Through the Ranks chooses a select few women in radio from across America to attend their management seminar each year. Amy was also honored in 2019 by the University of the Cumberlands as their Outstanding Young Alumna for 2019.

During her time with Forcht Broadcasting, Amy has served on session panels and made presentations at the Kentucky Broadcasters Association and National Association of Broadcasters conferences. She serves as a professional guest faculty at the Radio Talent Institute each year at Western Kentucky University and has helped instruct a broadcasting course at Campbellsville University.

Amy graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in 2004 and completed a Fellowship in entrepreneurial studies from the University of Kentucky in 2011. Proir to joining Forcht Broadcasting, Amy served as a Field Representative for a former Kentucky governor, worked in the community relations field for two non-profit organizations, and served briefly as a news producer for a television station. While at UC, Amy studied journalism abroad in London, England and interned with the NBC News London Bureau. Amy currently serves on the board of the Young Professionals of East Kentucky, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Pulaski County, the Lake Cumberland Performing Arts Council, and the March of Dimes Planning Committee.
