KBA NEWSLETTER: NOVEMBER 12, 2020
GOVERNOR BESHEAR ISSUES STERN WARNING. IS YOUR STATION PREPARED?
Gov. Andy Beshear warned every Kentuckian yesterday that they must take the pandemic more seriously in order to protect themselves, their families and their community. Kentuckians are in significantly greater danger of contracting COVID-19 now than they were in March or April; on Wednesday, the Governor reported 2,700 new cases, the state’s highest ever daily total. In addition, the positivity rate has increased to 8.12%, the highest it has been since May 5.

Stations are urged to review their internal COVID protocols and operational plans as we head into what is expected to be a challenging winter season.
We continue to have a limited supply of the cloth FEMA masks available. If you would like to replenish your onsite supply, please send a request to Amber at amber@kba.org. We will ship masks to KBA member stations at no cost.

"WEATHERNAR" TODAY @ 2:00PM ET
NEXTGEN TV AND THE FUTURE OF TV WEATHER
Join us today at 2:00 PM ET for a unique “Weathernar” webinar that will focus on how ATSC 3.0 is a powerful new tool for improving public safety, as well as the entire landscape of emergency alerting and information, especially weather-related warnings.

A terrific panel of thought leaders and innovators will share their insights on the profound impact that Next Gen TV can have for the whole weather enterprise. Following a “level set” on ATSC 3.0/Next Gen TV from ATSC President Madeleine Noland, panelists will explore how the new system can help address the challenges of delivering vital, often life-saving weather information.

Key focal points will include the National Severe Storms Laboratory’s next-generation severe weather forecast and warning framework, known as FACETs, The Weather Company’s (an IBM Business) smart automation powered by augmented intelligence, and efforts of weather enterprise entrepreneurs who are already innovating with ATSC 3.0.
