KBA Members,

On behalf of the entire KBA team, we want to wish you and your families a safe, healthy and very Merry Christmas. It is our privilege to serve you and we look forward to working hard for you and your stations in 2021.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
MARILYN EVANS PASSES AWAY
This weekend brought some sad news to the WQXE family. Marilyn Evans, wife of Bill Evans and co-founder of WQXE, passed away Sunday, December 20th after a 35+ year battle with Multiple Sclerosis, more commonly known as MS.

Not only was Marilyn involved in the operation of the stations, but was also engaged in numerous community events and projects. She served as president of the Junior Woman’s Club, director of the Hardin County Fair Pageant, and was one of individuals who launched the annual Community Children’s Fair, which still runs to this day, 24 years later.

Marilyn’s involvement also extended to her church, where she served as the first female clerk in the long history of Severn’s Valley Baptist Church.

“She was kind, loving, and always willing to take on a project to help the community,” her husband, Quicksie and Wolf owner Bill Evans said. “And those who know Marilyn know she always had a big smile and a willing heart to help others"

Marilyn Evans was 79 years old.
"BIKES OR BUST" FOR KENTUCKIANA
Summit Media’s WQNU Louisville, Ky., collected 2,123 bicycles between November 19-23 during its annual “Bikes or Bust” bicycle drive, bringing its five-year total to more than 10,000 bikes collected for kids throughout Kentuckiana. Morning show host Gator Glass and the station’s “Magic” Mike Benson each camped out on scissor lifts over the weekend at donation points in Kentucky and Indiana. Bikes collected in Kentucky were donated to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots and bikes donated in Indiana were donated to The Salvation Army of Southern Indiana.

JOURNALISTS TO BE INCLUDED IN PHASE 1C VACCINE DISTRIBUTION
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Advisory Committee On Immunization and Practices (ACIP) recommended that frontline workers - which include frontline broadcasters - should be second in line for coronavirus vaccines, after health care workers and nursing home residents.

Earlier this month, NAB and other news media organizations advocated for this in a letter to the committee. Media is certain to play a key role during the deployment of COVID-19 vaccines, including educating Americans about the importance of vaccination and aiding in the monumental task of informing the public about the logistics of the vaccine's dispersal across the country. NAB applauds ACIP's recommendation and we will continue to ensure broadcasters have the ability to safely serve their communities.
