WHAS CRUSADE FOR CHILDREN IS THIS WEEK
The 67th WHAS Crusade for Children is this weekend August 8-9, 2020. The WHAS Crusade for Children telethon faces unprecedented challenges due to COVID-19. It will not be a typical Crusade weekend. Restrictions and changes will be in place. The annual variety show at the Kentucky Center for the Arts has been cancelled. A Crusade special featuring past performances will air in its place. The grand total for this year’s telethon will be announced just before 8PM ET on Sunday, August 9.
NAB INTRODUCES 2020 ELECTION TOOLKIT
America is facing a critical presidential election this fall, and yet the COVID-19 pandemic has had a detrimental impact on voter registration. As broadcasters, your member stations serve an indispensable role in educating voters and driving civic participation, helping our communities understand the importance of exercising their right to vote.

To that end, NAB is launching public service announcements that encourage people to register to vote and make their voice heard. These non-partisan spots have been produced in partnership with the League of Women Voters. Your member stations will receive the following email today announcing this joint effort, but we hope you will help us to spread the word as well.

We urge your stations to air these PSAs as much as possible through Election Day on November 3.

KENTUCKY ENGINEERS: SAVE THE DATES
Best Practices for Remote Broadcast Operations
Presented by
Indiana Broadcasters Association
Kentucky Broadcasters Association
Ohio Association of Broadcasters

Radio Session – Wed. Aug. 19 @ 1PM EASTERN
TV Session – Wed. Aug. 26 @ 1PM EASTERN

Mark your calendar to join the IBA, KBA and OAB for two sessions just for engineers at our member stations!

As you know, the 2020 Midwest Broadcast & Multimedia Technology Conference (MBMTC) conference has been cancelled due to COVID-19.  The annual conference, which is a joint effort of the Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio state broadcasters’ associations, brings together broadcast engineers, multimedia professionals and vendors for a full day of educational sessions and an extensive Exhibitors’ Showcase.

While we can’t have everyone together in-person this year, we do want to support engineering and multimedia professionals at our member stations during these challenging times.  At the suggestion of our conference planning committee, we are organizing virtual sessions to allow sharing of best practices among engineers in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

Our first sessions will focus on best practices in adapting to on-air talent and production working remotely during the stay-at-home order.  We’re planning two sharing sessions – one for radio ideas and one for TV ideas:
