NAB SHOW COVID PROTOCOL
VACCINATION CARD OR NEGATIVE TEST REQUIRED
|
|
NAB Show has recently updated the show’s Health & Safety policies and protocols to require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result. To assist with verification, the NAB Show has partnered with WellCheck to set up a digital verification portal that all exhibitors, attendees and press will utilize to show proof of meeting one of the two requirements.
For individuals that have been fully vaccinated, please take three minutes to submit your information and a picture of your COVID-19 vaccination card in the Verification Portal.
Upon successful verification, your Digital Health Pass will be issued via email and text if a mobile phone number is provided. This pass is the key to avoiding delays during the registration process and is the fastest way to receive your show badge. Confirmation may take 48 hours.
For individuals that plan to submit a negative COVID-19 test result within 48 hours of picking up their show badge, please take a minute to select the choice to submit a negative COVID-19 test result in the Verification Portal. This will prompt a reminder email the week of April 18th to upload your negative test within 48 hours from the time you intend to pick up your show badge.

POT ADVERTSING? NOT SO FAST
BY: DAVID OXENFORD
|
|
Last week, the US House of Representatives passed the MORE Act which, if enacted, would take marijuana off the list of Schedule I drugs – those drugs whose possession and distribution is a federal felony, as is the use of the radio waves to promote their use. As we have warned before (see, for instance, our article here published when an earlier version of this bill passed the House in 2020), because of the laws making the sale of marijuana a federal crime and prohibiting the use of radio waves to promote that sale, broadcast stations should think twice about any marijuana advertising, even in states where it has been legalized. Thus, the passage of MORE Act through the House should not be taken as a sign to start running marijuana advertising on your broadcast station. Click here to read more.

JEFF SCHMIDT'S SALES TIP OF THE WEEK
WHAT'S NEXT?
|
|
Love him or hate him, it’s hard to ignore the success that Jeff Bezos has achieved with Amazon. I recently read a quote from him that has great application for those of us in the advertising/marketing/business consulting world. Bezos said:
“Nobody pays for a product or service; they pay for satisfaction.”
This is also consistent with our rule number one of advertising which is that people do not buy products and services, they buy what the product or service does for them. Having spent last week at the Borrell Conference in Miami, we were all challenged to think about what we are offering now, and asked will it be enough in the future. The world of marketing is changing almost hourly if not daily. It can feel hard to keep up. Bezo’s goes on to say:
“You can’t stop at what you’re good at, you have to ask what do your customers need or want. And no matter how difficult it is, you better get good at those things.”
Bring this home to our world. Our advertisers want fully integrated marketing strategies and solutions. Being a “radio” seller a “TV” seller, or a “newspaper rep” is no longer enough. As difficult as it is, we must get better and expand our knowledge in all forms of advertising, all platforms and tactics.
As we head into the weekend ask yourself some questions:
- What do my customers want, that I’m not now providing?
- What will they want in the future, and how will I be prepared?
Managers, those would be great questions to ask in a sales meeting next week.
If you’re not planning and learning for the future, it will be here before you know it, and if you’re not prepared, you’ll be part of the past. Obsolete is an ugly word. Continuously asking what’s next and learning what’s next is the only way to avoid being obsolete.
