"HIGH NOON"

HUSBAND AND WIFE ANCHOR NOON NEWSCAST

Longtime WTVQ News Anchor, and current Executive Director of the Kentucky Historical Society Foundation, Doug High is returning from a 3-year absence on the news desk to spend his lunch hour co-hosting ABC 36’s weekday Noon newscast with his wife, Lyssa High.

High will also be keeping his “day job” at the KHSF and staying on as their Director.

“ABC 36 News at Noon with Doug and Lyssa High”, launched on Wednesday May 18th, 2022, at 12pm on the ABC TV affiliate for Lexington and Central Kentucky. Following local news and weather content, the studio guest/interview and feature segments of the newscast will (naturally) be re-branded as “High Noon”.

“Many married couples might go running in the other direction at the thought of (also) working together but for us, this is an opportunity we’ve been running towards for quite some time,” said Lyssa High. “Doug and I are best friends and co-anchoring together will be a long-time dream come true for us.”

“We’re elated to celebrate Doug’s homecoming to the ABC 36 anchor desk,” said General Manager Chris Aldridge. “Doug and Lyssa are such a talented, and dynamic couple, and their onscreen chemistry is going to be something special for our viewers to enjoy…. We are fortunate to have them both in the ABC 36 family.”

Both originally from Northern Ohio, the Highs have been married for 25 years and very proud to have made their home in Lexington for the past 22 years, along with their two teenage sons and their faithful retriever, Honey High.

JEFF SCHMIDT'S SALES TIP OF THE WEEK

IF YOU THINK YOU'RE BEAT... YOU ARE

In a recent visit with Mel Suhr who owns stations in Iowa, he shared with me a quote that is on his desk. Over dinner, Mel’s eyes seemed to twinkle as he recited these words from memory.  They aren’t just a plaque on his desk, he’s living them.

If you think you’re beat (author unknown)

“If you think you are beaten, you are.

if you think you dare not, you don’t.

If you would like to win, but you think you can’t

it’s almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost.

for out in the world, you’ll find.

Success begins with a person's will.

It’s all in a state of mind.

Life’s battles don’t always go,

to the stronger or faster woman /man.

But sooner or later, the person who wins.

Is the person who thinks they can.”

Don’t just think you can – KNOW YOU CAN.  You’re on the front lines of economic success and prosperity in your market. You are helping businesses achieve greater levels of success. You do incredibly important, life-changing work.

And you’re good at it!
