Education Matters Newsletter
KBEMS will continue to communicate with Emergency Medical Services-Training Educational Institutions and Educators on a quarterly basis through the KBEMS Education Matters Newsletter.  The newsletter will contain: educational resources, regulatory guidance and clarification on topics related to training, continuing education, certification and licensure, and will be a platform to disseminate national educational guidelines and practices. KBEMS Planning and Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
On Monday, March 16, 2020, KBEMS implemented its continuity of operations plan.
The education committee met on March 10, 2020 for a regularly scheduled meeting. A discussion occurred about the issues EMS-TEI's are experiencing from the COVID-19 pandemic. This resulted in a work group being created by the education committee to work on these issues. The work group met on March 16, 2020 and requested emergency regulations to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH)
The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) is responding actively to the COVID-19 situation. Our State Health Operations Center is operating at Level 1, its highest activation level.

Kentucky Department for Public Health is requesting student volunteers (EMS students) to volunteer for the COVID-19 emergency response. EMS-TEI administrators are asked to share this information with your EMS students. Volunteers will need to fill out the student volunteer form through the below link.


EMS-TEI Administrators should contact their local Kentucky Department for Public Health Office for more information about your community needs.

The NHTSA Office of EMS hosted a special edition of EMS Focus, a Federal webinar series, to discuss the latest updates on COVID-19, the novel coronavirus that has now infected thousands of people worldwide. Representatives of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) were invited to participate on the webinar panel.

March 31, 2020 EMS-TEI Renewal Deadline Extended to June 30, 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the March 31, 2020 EMS-TEI renewal deadline has been extended to June 30, 2020.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians announced two important modifications to the current recertification cycle for Nationally Registered EMS personnel.

The ability to inform Kentucky's emergency medical service community of information and upcoming events is critical. Welcome Heads Up KY EMS, a custom scripted software application used to quickly and easily generate messages for providers, medical directors, service directors, and TEI administrators, regarding meeting updates, events, and incidents where time is crucial!
