Education Matters Newsletter
KBEMS will continue to communicate with Emergency Medical Services-Training Educational Institutions and Educators on a quarterly basis through the KBEMS Education Matters Newsletter.  The newsletter will contain: educational resources, regulatory guidance and clarification on topics related to training, continuing education, certification and licensure, and will be a platform to disseminate national educational guidelines and practices. 2019 National EMS Scope Of Practice Model
The 2019 Scope of Practice identifies the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve competence for the four levels of EMS clinicians. It represents the first significant revision since the Model was first published in 2007.

KBEMS Inspector/Liaison
Eddie Slone currently serves as Inspector/Liaison for the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services.
KBEMS Education Committee
The education committee is a standing committee of the board. The Education Committee shall consist of seven (7) voting members representative of EMS Educators in the state of Kentucky. At least one (1) voting member of the Education Committee shall also be a member of the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services.

T he  Kentucky Board of EMS , in partnership with the  Kentucky Office of Rural Health , will host the 2019 EMS LINKS (Leaders in KY Summit) event, as part of National EMS Week. This event is a special educational, networking event geared toward EMS leaders, educators and administrators. Whether you are presently managing or leading an EMS organization, or hope to do so in the future, this event is perfect for you!

2017 Kentucky EMS Employee Attrition Report
In 2017, Kentucky EMS provider attrition was the lowest it has been in 3 years, accounting for 14%. Although, according to the Society for Human Resource management (2018), EMS turnover is higher when compared to other professions.

NREMT publishes handbook for candidates seeking initial certification
The handbooks provide a step by step process for submitting applications and taking the certification exams. They are available on the National Registry website in a downloadable digital format. Handbooks are available for EMR, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic certifications.
Heads Up KY EMS Mobile App
The ability to inform Kentucky's emergency medical service community of information and upcoming events is critical. Welcome Heads Up KY EMS, a custom scripted software application used to quickly and easily generate messages for providers, medical directors, service directors, and TEI administrators, regarding meeting updates, events, and incidents where time is crucial!
