Thoughts from the Duck Pond

By Sabra Dessauer, Children's Ministry Director

This month our Life Application is Cooperation...working together to do more than you can do alone.

I love this!  I want to tell you that without the children's teams at KCC, we would not have the  awesome programs that we have.  God knows I cannot even begin to minister on my own, so he placed some awesome people in my life.  Last month's Life Application was individuality.  We let the kids know that God gave them gifts to minister and he certainly gave people in our church many gifts and they use them to bless our children.  I would like to let you know about the KidStuf cast lead by Dale Farrier.  They work together not just on Sundays but on also Thursday nights.  They practice, have fun and pray together to bless our Family Stuff program that you can see on the first Sunday of each month.  Thanks to the many actors and staff that put this program together!  If you are interested in joining this wonderful cast, see Dale.  We would love to work with you!

Another program we have at church is the JAM program.  We have over 60 children attend on Wednesday evenings. The group that works together could not do it without each other. We depend on each other and God uses each one of us to put this program on, not to mention the teachers that help make sense of our goofiness. Without "Cooperation", Nancy Ickes could not put on her once a month JAM Meal.  The ladies that show up and make a dinner together are awesome at working together.

Children need meat, not just milk and our Sunday Faith Training teachers are working hard each week to teach our kids with the Family program that is in place.  Each class is taught the same lesson so the family can talk together about it and do as God commands in Deuteronomy 6.

Another wonderful ministry we have with kids is the SWAT team.  We are equipping the kids to work together with different creative programs that they can minister to others. This program could not exist without the wonderful Jan Pickford and Debra Davis.  They work with me to teach the children to go out and share the word of God.

You see, without Cooperation, we would not have the ministries we have in our church. These people are followers not just fans; if I can steal the sermon series.  They make time and work together with others to teach from their hearts.  I love you all so much!  Thank you for being willing to cooperate and work with our children for the Kingdom of God.

On Wednesday, November 7th, we will have a SUPER Scavenger Hunt to help families with their Thanksgiving dinner. We'll start with our JAM Meal at 5:45pm then divide into teams.  Teams will then have a set amount of time that they will go door to door looking for food items.  Only 1 food item per house!  Items on their list will include canned veggies, fruit, etc. We will then put those items into a food basket to donate to KAIR.

We need adult helpers to drive & help chaperone.  If you can help, please email Sabra or call the church office at 258-9441.

Tickets are $10 per person or $25 for a family.

A meeting for Project: "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" is Monday, November 5th at 7:00pm in the Lower Level.  This is for all volunteers and anyone wishing to get more details about the event, which will take place on Saturday, December 8th.  If you have questions, please call Hollie Bittenbender at 231-384-1255.
