ROCKY HORROR with Live Shadowcast

ROCKY HORROR

PICTURE SHOW

This Friday Nov 21

Sarandon had a few acting credits under her belt when she took the role of prim, innocent Janet, but Rocky Horror was her first gig in a musical. To complicate matters, filming in the rain gave her pneumonia. As O'Brien explained to The Guardian, "When [Sarandon] sings 'Wild and Untamed Thing' in the pool, she should have been under medical supervision. She'd had a shocking cold and was shaking with fever, but still, she went on."

Friday, Nov 21, 6:30pm TICKETS

Despite all that, Sarandon still looks back on the production fondly and is amused by the movie's continued popularity. In 1993, Sarandon told the Chicago Tribune, "It thrills me that my grandchildren may see their grandmother in her half-slip and bra, seducing a monster."

Bostwick is probably better remembered today for his role in the sitcom Spin City, but he had a musical theater background even before Rocky Horror. In fact, he originated the role of Danny Zuko in the Broadway version of Grease. However, he's impressed by how many people still love Rocky Horror.

"I'll do these conventions occasionally and keep up with them and you know in that world, I'm Uncle Barry. When I do these conventions, all of a sudden, I'm meeting a third generation of kids who have just seen it, you know, 10-year-olds, 12-year-olds, and then their parents or their grandparents," he told the A.V. Club in 2015. "It's just one of those moments in life that people sort of measure their life against."

Honoring

Melissa McFerrin Warrack

Our Hawaiʻi Children’s Theatre ʻohana is deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and longtime Vice President, Melissa McFerrin Warrack, who passed away on November 7.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thurs, Nov 20, 5–8 p.m.;  Kukui Grove Center – Macy’s Men’s.

In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to Hawaiʻi Children's Theatre in her honor.

The Kapa’a Middle School Choir & Ukulele Band, will once again be traveling to Anaheim to participate in the WorldStrides Music Festival.

This annual trip offers a wonderful opportunity for our talented students, who work hard throughout the year to help cover the costs. We appreciate your consideration of support for our students in this endeavor.

If you would like to help, contact Mary Lardizabal, Director.

INTO THE LIGHT

The Into The Light Project (ITLP) had planned on putting an exhibit in the PAC Lobby memorializing Kauai victims of drug overdose. Photo portraits of Kauai residents who have passed away would be displayed and the loved ones of the deceased would be given the portraits following the exhibition. To create a meaningful state-specific exhibition for Hawaii, ITLP needs a minimum of 15 local submissions, which they will augment with 10-15 portraits from their national pool. However, they must receive these submissions by January 1st in order to have adequate time to create the portraits and narratives, frame them, and ship them to the PAC in time for the exhibition.

If you know of someone who lost a loved one by overdose contact ITLP.
