ASHP Long-Range Vision for the Pharmacy Workforce in Hospitals & Health-Systems
|
|
It seems that the world of healthcare and the practice of pharmacy are steadily becoming more complex. The amount of protocols, policies, and patient-care puzzles we all navigate on a daily basis can be staggering. To help, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists strives to provide professional perspectives which give structure and direction to the practice of pharmacy in the form of policy positions and guidance documents. Policy statements address a particular aspect of practice and aim to establish a common stance amongst practitioners. Guidelines often recommend a specific therapeutic approach.
As policies and guidelines are developed, ASHP offers members the chance to review the document and provide your feedback. We want you all to be aware that the
Draft ASHP Long-Range Vision for the Pharmacy Workforce in Hospitals and Health-Systems
is currently being updated and your comments are requested by December 7
th
. This is a great opportunity to let you voice be heard, as this guidance document is applicable to everyone in the profession of pharmacy. You can also periodically check back in with ASHP to see what other documents on which you might be able to provide your expertise.

Have you been a member of KCHP and been waiting for the right opportunity to get involved? Or are you a new member and eager to participate in an upcoming KCHP-sponsored event. Well, KCHP has held three fantastic events in the last 3 months and have two more awesome upcoming events.
- KCHP is sponsoring a Student Pharmacy Forecast Workshop in January which will be a collaboration between the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists chapters of both KU and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. This event will help to provide pharmacy students an opportunity to work on contemporary and future issues facing the profession of pharmacy in an interactive manner. Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the discussions as well as provide insight to students on current issues in the profession. Tentative date for this event is Thursday, January 24th.
- The KCHP Annual Spring Meeting will be held on April 5-6th in Lawrence, Kansas at The Oread Hotel. The theme is “Building a Stronger Tomorrow” and promises to provide a fantastic assortment of topics. Volunteers are needed as part of the planning committee and assisting with the meeting logistics.
If either of these two opportunities are interesting, please email KCHP Director of Education, Ricky Ogden, at
