RealCare Babies


Early Childhood Education students had the opportunity to experience what it is like to care for a real baby.  They responded appropriately to the baby's needs when they cried or fussed by feeding, burping, rocking and changing their diapers.

Early Childhood Visits


The Early Childhood Education students visited several different Montessori and childcare facilities.  The students visited Little Tots Montessori in Kansas City Kansas, Roots and Wings in Basehor and Guidepost Montessori in Leavenworth.

Painting


Construction students continue learning how to paint. The students are learning how to prep the area, trim out areas and use a roller.

Dust Collector Installation


KCKCC PCC is having a dust collector installed for the CNC Router machine in the Construction program.  When the dust collector is installed the Construction students will be able to do sign making, plastic fabrication, metal fabrication, foam cutting, millwork, engraving and woodworking.

Cuban Cuisine


Foods III Culinary students studied Cuban cuisine this week. Students prepared a full course meal.  Culinary students made papas rellenas (Cuban potato balls) with spicy sriracha dipping sauce, Cuban black bean soup, Ropa Vieja with platanos maduros (fried sweet plantains) and finished the meal with Arroz con Leche (rice pudding).

Pie Pumpkins


Culinary students roasted pie pumpkins to make pumpkin puree.

Carving Pumpkins


Culinary students started carving pumpkins for the pumpkin carving contest. Students can carve different styles such as jack-o-lanterns, surface carving or 3-D sculpture. Students sketched their ideas, scooped out seeds and used carving tools and paring knives for shaping and detail work.  

Roasting Seeds


Culinary students roasted the pumpkin seeds from their carving pumpkins.  Students roasted the seeds with the following flavors:  spiced maple, spiced, spicy, and caramelized spicy.

Mexican Cuisine


Foods III Culinary students made shrimp ceviche which is a raw shrimp dish that is "cooked " using lime juice and served with baked white corn ships. Students also made Ensalada de jicama which is a root vegetable salad, green chile and pork smothered burrito and churros with chocolate dipping sauce.

Programmable Logic Controls


Electrical students are learning about control circuits which include lighting control and motor control. 

Trash Bag Delivery


Kim Taylor, Site Coordinator, and Leavenworth Lion,  helped with the Lions Trash Bag delivery. Leavenworth Lions deliver trash bags in the fall and the spring to residents' doorsteps in the city of Leavenworth.

the Leos Club. 

Recyclable Plastic Items for Donation


Leavenworth Lions Club is collecting recyclable plastic items.  All plastic items must be clean, dry and free of food residue.  A list of the plastic items is below.  Just drop them off in the KCKCC Pioneer Career Center office to Kim.
